Very good food. Attentive serve And nice to have a welcoming surprising gesture of a free dessert Tiramisu at the end. Is this helpful? HV. HerVineNess Gold.

Edit (8/29): We dined in for my son’s birthday and had 2 margheritas plus the gnocchi (pictures added to my previous ones). Everything was great from the food and service. They also brought my son a birthday dessert with candle. I showed the previous message here for free pizza and they honored it.
Thank you, Tre Monti!

**************************

I first tried Tre Monti when it was ordered at the office. Someone in my team had it and he was raving about it. I then ordered the Margherita pizza and boy was it good.

I then decided to order for my daughter and I. I ordered the Margherita and, it came a little different than the first time. A bit more soft (almost undercooked looking in tiny areas) but we ate it and it was fine.

Well, I ordered again. This time for my son to also try. Margherita and Calabrese pizzas. I received 1 pizza (assume Margherita, which is the one I wanted the most) and some pasta plate. Boy, was I disappointed but figured, hey, we have at least the 1 pizza and my daughter can have the pasta (she loves pasta). We had to hurry and eat as (like I mentioned above) she was going to work.

Well, I call my son and daughter to eat, open up the pizza and it’s the Calabrese one, AND, it is very much undercooked, soggy and can barely pick it up. I had to throw it in the air fryer to speed up cooking for my daughter to eat before going to work. We tried the pasta and that was a fail. It tasted like heavy American yellow cheese.

I immediately reached out to Door Dash and their auto chat initially refunded the 1 pizza. I had to reach out to a rep to get the full refund.

This was a big fail from Tre Monti.

Food Impressions:
My experience with the food at Tre Monti was less than ideal.
• The King Salmon I ordered was unfortunately dry, which was a bit disappointing for a main course.
• The Calamari portion size felt quite modest, definitely more fried than meat.
• Even the complimentary bread didn’t seem as fresh as one might hope for at an Italian establishment.
• Overall, for an Italian restaurant in the Bay Area, the dishes didn’t quite meet my expectations, particularly given the cost.

Pricing & Value:
The pricing at Tre Monti felt quite high for the portion sizes and the quality of the dishes we received. While ambiance can sometimes justify higher prices, the overall food experience didn’t quite align with the cost.

Ambiente:
We chose to sit outside, and the outdoor area was generally pleasant. However, the restaurant was noticeably quiet and rather empty during our visit. While this can sometimes mean a more relaxed atmosphere, it also struck me as a bit unusual for a dinner service.

Final Thoughts:
I had hoped for a better dining experience at Tre Monti, especially based on other reviews. The combination of the food quality not fully meeting expectations and the higher price point left me feeling that it might not be the best fit for future visits. While the outdoor seating was fine, the overall experience suggested that there might be other Italian options in the area that offer better value or a more consistent culinary experience.

Lovely, cozy establishment in a convenient location with very friendly, knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed our time here, even if the food was lackluster. The menu is reminiscent of our trips to northern Italy, even Tyrolean in some sense, like the mushroom risotto (which makes sense given the restaurant’s name). The menu really is fantastic, which is what drew us in. The fact that there is a specials menu is typically a good sign there will be fresh, creative, thoughtful dishes. Sadly, the quality of the food didn’t match up to our expectations given the prices and obvious homage to amazing, traditional Italian cuisine. I’ll take some of the blame: I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the uninteresting Californian variety of porcini (even though it’s so fresh here) after eating so many wild fresh porcini dishes across Italia’s mountainous areas. But that aside, the rice in the risotto was overdone (and not actually any of the varieties of rice I’ve ever seen in risotto before), it was way too cheesy (almost like a pizza!), and the flavors were notable only for how shockingly bland and uninspired they were. (I wanted to ask the bartender for a zest of lemon to season the risotto a bit.) A pasta dish we had wasn’t much more flavorful or inspired, although the pasta itself was decent quality — fresh and tender, perhaps handmade in house. For dessert, we had a scoop of what was pitched as gelato, but it clearly was not. It was neither high enough fat content nor dense enough to be considered gelato, and the flavor again, barely registering. Nice place, regardless. You should go and try it yourself, and maybe you’ll have a better time with the food than we did.

Went for a date night with my husband. Reached late around 8:40 pm and the place was mostly empty. Peak time for them is between 5:30 to 7:30 pm and after that its quite open. There are quite a few options for vegetarians in Antipasti menu, fewer in the main course. I felt that the food lacked flavor. Spaghetti could have used more salt. Service was quick and all servers were nice and polite. The best of all was the tiramisu. Got to talk to the pastry chef and saw the Basque cheesecake come out. Will definitely go back for dessert here, not so much for the food.

I rarely write long reviews, but Tre Monti absolutely deserves one.

I’ve been back multiple times, and each meal has been nothing short of outstanding.

My Favorites:

1. Porcini e Tartufo Nero Pizza – The earthy richness of the porcini mushrooms paired with the delicate aroma of truffle is next-level. The flavors are so well balanced, and the crust—perfectly crisp on the outside, chewy in the center.

2. Pizza Genovese – Equally amazing. The pesto is vibrant and fresh, with a depth of flavor. If you’re a fan of basil, this one will win you over instantly.

3. Spaghetti alla Bolognese – Comfort food done right. It’s the kind of dish that tastes homemade, and this is my kids’ favorite.

What I appreciate most is the consistency. Every time I visit, I know I’m in for something delicious. The ingredients are top-quality, the portions are generous, and the plating is thoughtful without being fussy.

The staff are always kind and attentive, and the atmosphere is casual but elevated—perfect for both a cozy dinner date or a relaxed meal with family or friends.

Had a fantastic lunch at Tre Monti in Los Altos. Nice outdoor seating. Lunch was great. Salmon Panini and Pasta Bolognese in the photos. Service was outstanding. A little on the pricey side but reflected in the food quality.

The most authentic Italian restaurant in the peninsula. We have been going here the last few years and it’s the best Italian food outside of Italy. We love esp their pizzas and appetizers. My family likes their pastas too. Great espresso and tiramisu as well. The owner is from Italy and he sources a lot of his ingredients directly (he travels there) from Italy. Really friendly and attentive servers too. Best kept secret in Los Altos!

Friendly service. Food was pretty good. The gnocchi was a bit mushy and the tomato and basil sauce it was in was not very good. They also are card only but charge you a feefor using your card.
