TLDR: EIGHT from four diners.

Absolutely fantastic find in Bend! If you enjoy authentic Italian, treat yourself to dinner here. We were in Florence in February and we felt transported back in time while dining at Trattoria Sbandati!

We were four adults and every single dish on the table was an absolute joy to eat.

To be fair, this was the only Italian restaurant we have visited in Bend, but after our first visit we aren’t sure why we would need to find another.

We had:
– The mussels as an appetizer
– TAGLIATELLE AL RAGU’ ALLA BOLOGNESE
– A sardines and spaghetti off the menu special
PAPPARDELLE ALLA CHIANTIGANA (pictured)
– MERLUZZO ALL’ACQUA PAZZA (pictured)

The restaurant is small. Make a reservation. Slow down. Dine well.

This place is an absolute gem! Their location is a bit obscure and hole in the wall. Once you’re inside you feel warm, welcome and cozy. Exactly the type of place I’d love to sip on Italian wine.

We started out by ordering the piatto di formaggi misti and I must say it was a lovely sharable starter. The three cheeses where distinct and flavorful, and the pine cone syrup was outstanding.

Then we ordered a starter pasta that was made with saffron and burrata. It was delicate and beautiful! We also go the taglierini al gamberi, vongole e zucchine which was my personal favorite dish of the night. The clams were decadent. Stunning.

For the main dishes we ordered the cannelloni in forno and the pancetta di korobuta. And wow. So delicious. So tender.

We shared a bottle of the Nebbiolo Gattinara: Travaglini, Piemonte 2020 and that made a perfect evening even better.

Lovely portion sizes on everything. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Really can’t recommend this place enough. Will definitely be back.

The food is absolutely wonderful. The grilled bread is a brilliant take on it, not burnt and the olive oil and toppings are the best representation of these items. The primi and secondi options are superb and the cod in tomato sauce with bread stays in my Italian seaside dreams. Jesus that dish is majestic and addictive. The service was as expected and is great at any refills and specials delivery. Ambience is where it gets a little odd because of the location they are in, with outdoor seating before the front door and then walking into an active dining room while also trying to ask about your reservation, is a bit tough, but not their fault. Bigger spot or even a different layout, changes all of that. Cannot stress enough, this place is a gem, and if I lived in this town, I would come in probably 2 if not 3 times a month but also could be a date night or special occasion spot easily.

I had a reservation with my wife and our newborn (4 months). This restaurant went above and beyond for so many reasons. The day happened to be extremely smokey and my reservations were initially for the patio. With a newborn I was very apprehensive about sitting outside. I contacted the restaurant and they were able to move things around indoors to allow for the three of us to sit inside.

Once inside, we experienced exemplary service. Food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. The bread was incredible.

Towards the end of the meal, our newborn began to cry. I had to step outside to soothe him. The staff was able to give us a check in a timely manner, assist my wife with moving our stroller, and even came outside after us because we had left a binky.

Thank you everyone.

Amazing, authentic Italian food. Make your reservation at least a few days in advance to ensure you get a table, it’s worth the wait! Can’t go wrong with the cannelloni dish and panna cotta for dessert. Forever will be our favorite restaurant in Bend!

Absolutely incredible! The homemade pasta is to die for! The desserts are heavenly! The specials are out of this world! Incredibly kind but not overbearing staff. Strict with reservations, so show up when you say you will and it will be one of the best dining experiences in Central Oregon!

We are very happy to have found this Italian gem. We started off with the antipasta and the board was beautiful. It wasnt my favorite as the bread was a little crispy but flavorful. We both ordered the Ragu Tagliatelle. It was really impressive all around. Great flavors and pasta was cooked well.
We shared the meatballs and enjoyed them. I can see why they are a favorite. However, we think 10.00 a meatball is a little steep. It did come with sautéed spinach, which was cooked and flavored to perfection. We finished sharing the tiramisu and it didn’t disappoint.
We enjoyed trying Italian wines and our service was superb.
This isn’t a cheap restaurant so I was taken aback seeing them fill water glasses from the sink (no filter seen but can’t deny if it was at the bottom).
I’m sure most places serve tap water but once I know, I’ll request bottle.
Overall, a very nice dinner and we will be back.

Took my wife for Valentine’s Day. First time we came here. Food was really good. Service was just ok. Waitress never came by to see if we needed anything or ask how our food was. Guess that is because there was a 20% gratuity already imposed on my bill.
I’m all about including a tip with good service. But I don’t like paying full 20% when my service is subpar.

Food was great

My issue was with the service. I’m over waiters and bartenders putting you in a lose lose situation.

I ordered an IPA and a vodka soda for my date. Waitress responded “Grey goose or Kettle One”. It’s a vodka soda.. well is fine. Instead I either have to bring that up or choose one of her two premium options.. this is done on purpose. I said you choose.. and a few minutes later her $18 vodka soda arrived. This practice is predatory and you know it… just stop. If I don’t mention a premium liquor for a mixed drink when ordered… it’s well. Don’t make me say “well” in front of my date to save from paying 3x the price of the drink. You’re not slick.. and you still got a 30% tip. But you left a sour taste in my mouth so much I’m posting here about it. Bad biz. Do better

First and only time visiting. We came for Valentine’s Day hoping for a romantic evening, but were deeply disappointed. For over $200 (no drinks), we were seated with a view of a gas station. The food didn’t justify the price: my crab pasta was extremely fishy and tasted like the ocean floor, and both the appetizer and dessert were letdowns. The only highlight was the free bread at the start. To top it off, an automatic tip was added for a party of only two. Service was okay, but the value just isn’t there. We would have been better off almost anywhere else in Bend; we won’t be back.
