Trattoria Romana in Wakefield will forever hold the most special place in my heart, it’s where I got engaged, and honestly, I couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting. From the second you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, romantic, and effortlessly elegant. The food is beyond incredible — the steak is oh my gosh level delicious, perfectly cooked, rich, and unforgettable. Every bite felt like a celebration.

The service made the night feel even more magical, and the entire experience was just beautiful from start to finish. If you’re looking for a place that feels intimate, elevated, and genuinely special — whether it’s a date night, celebration, or once in a lifetime moment — Trattoria Romana is it.

This is a can’t miss! Great food, awesome drinks and phenomenal service! Kirstie was so kind and sweet as my server! I wish I had visited earlier being from out of town but if and when I’m back this is my spot!

Where do I start? Maureen who handled our seating with efficiency and humor? Scott who greeted us so graciously? Jeremy and Kirsten who both knew how to pour the perfect Rusty Nail? Lisa and Danielle who were knowledgable, efficient, and highly attentive?

I come from SoCal – and was delighted to find such well prepared and delicious Italian cuisine here in Rhode Island!

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, authentic, Italian restaurant with great ambiance in an old school environment, look no further. Trattoria Romana is the place for you!

We came as a group to celebrate a grant. At first, the service and the waitress seemed fine. However, I found a large piece of plastic in my eggplant parm. The manager came over and, after going to the kitchen, indirectly dismissed it by saying they could not find anything like it. I and also my friends were already upset about finding plastic in my food, and her response only made it worse. The only solution offered was a replacement dish or dessert, which is unacceptable given the situation and the negative experience it created for all of us. Poor hygiene, unprofessional manager, and overall very disappointing. There are many better Italian options nearby. They don’t seem to care about their customers.

One of the more under appreciated great restaurants in our area that probably doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. The four of us started with cocktails, which were excellent. It would have been nice to have a “Gavi” available by the glass for dinner, so we had to opt for a bottle. For our apps: My Cesare salad was very good and their oysters were excellent
Two of us ordered specials and they were large, hot and outstanding. One was a Cioppino and the other was a short rib stuffed ravioli in a Marsala sauce, this was “lights out”, just incredible . The other three entrees (one for the table to share) were; chicken francaise, scrod piccata and the shareable was linguine Vongole. All three were again, large, hot and excellent. All sauces with all entrees were “drinkable “ and an excellent “pond” for bread dipping. Btw, you know how restaurants have changed since Covid and how those restaurants that still serve bread, charge a premium ….Not here, they still serve their outstanding, Iggy’s sourced bread, that is a meal in itself, especially with a bowl of their amazing pasta fagioli. There’s only 1 other restaurant in the state, that can lay claim to serving the same hot food, high quality, at reasonable, almost, pre-Covid prices and I won’t name it here. But suffice to say, this restaurant continues to do it right, where you can still go out for an incredible meal and not feel like you are being fleeced of your finances. Thanks for continuing to do the great job you do.

Wow I’m so glad I came in this plaza. It looked really pretty from the outside and I wanted to check out the restaurants so I checked out this one. My daughter and I are only visiting for a few days. The moment I stepped in everyone was so pleasant and I was totally underdressed for the crowd. Our waitress Danielle was very accommodating and didn’t make us feel awkward at all. There was two of us and we had three drinks, salad, one appetizer and 2 entrees. I cannot say enough about the food and the staff. I was pleasantly surprised that the bill was only $125. If I lived any closer I would make it a regular place.

The service was Excellent, our waitress was absolutely attentive checking in on us frequently. It was my birthday and I thought I would order the Lasagna for a special treat . The Lasagna was pretty bad . Over priced , small portion, drowning in a meat sauce that did not taste good.
I didn’t speak up , change your recipe because Lasagna is pretty easy to perfect. We enjoyed the calamari and delicious warm bread I should mention.

Bucatini carbonara was horrible. The carbonara came out of a jar. Thick heavy commercial cream sauce. — a crime against Italian cuisine. Absolutely inauthentic.. The sautéed spinach was tasteless. I don’t know how you do that to garlic and oil. The service was prompt but the server was very loud. I’d have sent back my meal but we were guests of our host. Credit to dessert — the strawberry and Gelato finale was delightful. And generous enough for 3 people. Our meal cost (with tax) 148.00 three cocktails, 3 mains. 2 side. 1 dessert. Reasonable cost but very mediocre. The lobster mac&cheese was shy on lobster, but a huge portion. NEVER going back.

Having moved from NY a few years ago, we are very partial to authentic, consistent Italian cuisine. Trattoria Romana Wakefield never disappoints and we look forward to our staple weekly dinner. Not only are we treated like valued regular clientele, we feel like we are part of the family. Maureen & Scott run a magnificent front of house experience, and always do their best to make us feel welcome and supported. Jenna is an absolute star who we have come to call our friend, and we genuinely look forward to seeing her and the team every week. The food is delicious and you are able to customize to your exact liking, which makes it a perfect experience for adults and families with kids alike. Atmosphere is upscale Italian with a comfortable feel. Love Love Love.

We had a very nice family dinner here for a special occasion. Reservations are definitely recommended, as the dining room fills quickly. The menu has a wide variety of choices along with plenty of specials, so everyone found something appealing. On an early Sunday evening the wait for food was a bit longer than expected, but the staff was friendly and attentive throughout, which made the experience enjoyable. The atmosphere felt welcoming and comfortable, making it a good spot for celebrating together.
