I grew up in Italy and moved to Cambridge 10 years ago. Pulcinella is a hidden gem and one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Boston. And I mean *authentic* Italian restaurants, not the Italian-American cuisine you find in the North End… If Giulia would be a good fancy restaurant in Italy, Pulcinella would be the go-to family run Trattoria: quiet and cozy atmosphere, good ingredients, and simple plates made with the flavors and textures that my mom and grandma would use. Homemade bread, homemade pasta, authentic Italian ingredients (branzino, prosciutto), and hands down the best and most authentic tiramisu I found in Boston — I come on my birthday every year just for that.

Food quality is good. Portion sizes are nice. Scratch kitchen…so they can cater to dietary restrictions. Prices are a bit high. Parking is limited.

This restaurant is hands down one of the best restaurants in cambridge! As a first time visitor I was so impressed. The food was absolutely delicious – every dish tastes so fresh and authentic. The warm, welcoming atmosphere made it feel so comfortable, and the service was top notch! What makes Pulcinella extra special is the family behind it. Their warmth and kindness make dining here feel like you’re visiting friends. I can’t wait to come back!

Some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had … Anywhere! Such care goes into the preparation. The pesto was so good it made me want to cry.

What a lovely place! We ate on the patio behind the building on a warm evening. The attentive waitress made us comfortable and kept our water glasses full.

The food was exceptional. We shared bread with four dishes of toppings and a plate of roasted vegetables. I had a simple plate of spaghetti and meatballs. My companions had seafood risotto and chicken breast breaded and fried. Dessert was flourless chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream.

We were all happy with our meals, the ambiance and service. The place is a real gem. I’ve eaten there many times in the past but hadn’t been there for several years. It’s just as good now as then, perhaps even better now.

The only downside is parking. The restaurant doesn’t have a parking lot, and on-street parking isn’t easy to find. Plan to arrive well before your reservation because it might take you a while to park. I found a spot two blocks away last night.

Good service and family style Italian cozy resturant. Food is ok…. Not everything authentic but fairly good. Gnocchi were really good but risotto is too heavy and not with wild authentic Italian porcini, truffle qty is limited.

We came as a party of 7, the service was amazing, the food was top tier and the atmosphere was so calm and nice. We will definitely be visiting again. One of the best Italian places I’ve been to in the states.

Celebrated one of my good friends birthdays here and we had a pleasant time. The interior is very warm and intimate. The expo kitchen is very small but adds to the intimate feel

The menu is small and straight forward. They serve only beer and wine.

As an appetizer I had the Octopus. I’m into grilled octopus and this one was more or less steamed with a tomato based sauce. A bit too chewy for my liking and the sauce did not provide enough flavor for me. As a main meal I had the Bolognese with a red wine, which I’ll be honest, I forgot the name of it (sorry!) Regardless the wine tasted well and paired well with the Bolognese. The meal had some spice to it and it was flavorful. I would prefer some extra cheer on top next time.

The gem of the night was the tiramisu. It was so good, I forgot to take a picture of it lol.

An ok spot I do appreciate their intentions of providing authentic Italian cuisine and experience.

Amazing, adorable hole in the wall! Apparently they’ve been open for 24 years and I feel like I’ve driven by a million times and never knew it was there! A really attentive and sweet person attended to us and everything was delicious. It’s a small menu, and I don’t think it’s posted anywhere, but they have a lot of good seafood, pasta, and meat dishes with a wine list. Highly recommended!
