From the first bite, the dish announced itself as exemplary–balanced, confident, and immediately shareable. It became the reference point of the table, discussed long after the plates were cleared.

I entrusted Carlos (who I adore) with selecting my entrée, a decision made without hesitation. The staff is incredibly educated on each dish, and Carlos makes the most spectacular suggestion: the Beet Ravioli. His guidance always feels intuitive and assured, reflecting a dining room that understands intention as well as appetite.

Service at Trattoria Mezzomondo is polished and professional, marked by genuine pride in the establishment. The staff engages effortlessly with both regulars and visitors, creating an atmosphere that is welcoming without sacrificing precision– they treat you like family and, for me, the feel is mutual.

Having watched this restaurant grow, it is remarkable how it has retained its core identity. Its commitment to authenticity–rooted in a reverence for craft and tradition–has sharpened my own expectations of cuisine, making neighboring establishments diminutive by contrast.

The Chef demonstrates remarkable command across the menu–combustible genius. From the most restrained preparations to dessert, each plate is thoughtfully executed, with clarity of flavor and disciplined presentation. I travel often, Italy included, and yet Mezzo distinguishes itself not by imitation, but by authorship.

This is the type of excellence that precludes replication. Each dish is shaped by the senses, seemingly satisfying a singular culinary vision. It’s more than a meal, it’s art.

Why go here? Because they introduce you to something genuinely special: a new way to experience familiar flavors. Their take on traditional dishes blends the unexpected into a desperately welcomed harmony of ingredients.

There is a clear distinction at work here, evident at every level of the dining experience. It would be unsurprising to see Mezzo recognized with a MICHELIN Star distinction soon.

Love, Elle

Perhaps the most authentic Italian experience outside of Italy. The daily specials of handmade pasta are incredible. Highly, highly recommended!

This was hands-down the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. From the moment you walk in, you feel like family. The food is truly authentic Italian, made from scratch, and you can taste the love in every bite.

We didn’t have a reservation, yet the hostess still apologized for not having a table ready—when it was completely our fault. I also forgot my wallet and asked if they accepted Apple Pay. She told me they did but not to worry and said I could just call the next day with my card. Who does that anymore? Absolutely incredible.

She greeted every single person who walked in and even remembered guests who had only been there once before. While we waited, she offered complimentary prosecco, which was such a thoughtful touch.

This place is a gem. Amazing food, unforgettable hospitality, and a staff that treats you like you’ve been coming there for years. Highly recommend.

Perfect date night spot for people who love home made Italian food in a family owned warm vibe. No notes, the flavors were immaculate from garlic bread to the desserts, and the customer service was like a warm hug from a long lost auntie. We wish we lived closer and would be here all the time, a must try.

Trattoria Mezzomondo is truly something special. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the love that pours into every part of this restaurant. The front of the house is run by Luba, and the kitchen is led by Chef Elio—and together, their deep love for each other, their craft, and their community is unmistakable.

They serve the most delicious, fresh, Northern Italian food in the desert—hands down. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, rooted in tradition, and made with genuine care. This is food that comforts you, excites you, and reminds you what Italian cooking is meant to be.

Luba and Elio are such warm, beautiful people, and that warmth somehow makes its way into every plate and every interaction. You don’t just feel like a customer here—you feel welcomed, taken care of, and genuinely appreciated.

My wife can’t stop talking about this place! It has now replaced Mama Gina’s as our favorite place in Palm Desert. The food was absolutely delicious, every bite! The service was wonderful, and it was obvious that the waitress took great pride in the restaurant. For a place located in the strip mall alongside a highway is pretty remarkable! I have a feeling we’ll be going back very very regularly! Spaghetti and meatballs were delicious!

I have written a lot of reviews. Not many that are 5-Star, and not many that will go into the detail this one will. Mezzomondo is a gem, it is the single best Italian restaurant in the desert. This is a place you simply cannot miss if you are interested in a unique, delightful and memorable meal in the Coachella Valley.

It is not your standard red sauce Italian. Featuring a Northern Italy themed menu they are much more interested in delighting you than checking off all the possible combinations of pasta and meats. It is a small facility, maybe 15 tables, run by a husband and wife team. Be sure to call ahead for reservations, and do it early. NoOpen Table, you need to call and leave a message. Lupa will call you back if they can accomodate you. They can not accomodate more than 6 guests at a table.

The wait staff has been there for the 4-years we have been going, which speaks well of the owners. The wine list is limited but good. The menu has a number of favorites, but the highlight is very often the specials. Their seafood specials are always a good choice.

My better half enjoys the freshly made pasta in the pappardelle pasta with a mushroom sauce.. I have to tell you the first time I tried the pasta e fagioli (a soup) I almost cried it was so flavorful. The Lasagna is unique, and deeply flavorful.

Our favorite special was a dish of scallops presented raw and with a slightly spicy sauce. Like most things there, amazing and just the right size to satisfy without over weighing. The theory of Luba and Elio is to feed you well. And they do.

The desserts vary, but if the lemon bar is available, get it. Any pasta will delight you, it is hand made.

They are located in a small shopping strip center on highway 111 in Palm Desert. They are literally next to a 7-11 and you may drive past them the first time you go. Turn around and go back. This is a place not to be missed. This is food as good as you will have anywhere.

One of the best meals I’ve had and the service phenomenal. I want to adopt her as my mother. So great. You won’t regret anything you order. The appetizers, lasagna, and deserts are crafted and the flavors are spot on.

We are locals but spend 3 months each year in Italy. It was so nice to find a real Italian trattoria right here in the desert. Luba and Elio are amazing hosts. Chef Elio creates amazing dishes and their staff is wonderful. Carlos and all the wait staff are so kind…it was a real pleasure dining with them. We will see you soon!!
