We really enjoyed having dinner tonight at this new restaurant in Hamden. Everything was delicious and the outdoor seating is very nice. The seasonal watermelon salad was beautifully made, and the crab cakes and linguine with clams were top! We will definitely be back

My wife and I live in the area and wanted to try this new place out. We had a wonderful experience and we hope this restaurant can become a neighborhood mainstay. The service was very attentive. We tried a bunch of different dishes to get a feel for the food and the we were pleased with everything. The portions were also quite large (great value) so we were glad to take some of our pasta and pork loin home. We especially loved the stuffed peppers and arancini appetizers.

Absolutely delicious. Husband and I are early birds and like to eat around 5pm so the place was quiet when we arrived but was livelier by the time we left. Waiter was friendly and made good menu recommendations.

We had the fried mozz appetizer, which was tasty. For dinner husband had the penne arrabbiata with a chicken cutlet and declared it the best arrabbiata of his life (and he has had many). Sauce was chunky with pieces of hot pepper and garlic. I had the pappardelle della casa with grilled chicken and I absolutely loved it. Mild but flavorful parmesan sauce, not too heavy, plenty of prosciutto for some salt, and the pasta was cooked perfectly.

Price wise it’s a little higher than we would expect but since the quality is clearly there we didn’t mind at all. We will definitely be back.

This new restaurant is truly a hidden gem. The food is sublime, while also being homey and plentiful! I especially love the succulent Florentine chicken, which comes with a piquant lemony sauce, perfectly cooked fresh spinach, and creamy garlic mashed potatoes. Our favorite dishes are always on the menu, and always accompanied by a variety of interesting specials: e.g. a delectable pork shank osso-bucco. Given the reasonable prices, friendly and helpful wait staff, and comfortable room, this is the perfect place for a relaxed and delicious night out.

One of my best dining experiences ever and I am very particular!! I love to cook and love Italian food. Trattoria Dal Forno has only been open 6 weeks in North Haven on Whitney Avenue. The decor and atmosphere is so nice. The staff was very attentive and our waiter Andrea from Naples was the best! The menu was extensive and varied with pasta, fish, veal, mussels, chicken, crab cakes, shrimp. The bartender made a great Manhattan to start. With each course my husband and I kept saying it could not get better and it did! The beyond wonderful beet and pear salad that we shared was so large I brought some home. The Branzino was delicious and cooked perfectly as was the Veal Marsala. We have found our new favorite restaurant. Nancy

A friend had gone here to eat for New Years and her experience wasn’t very good. The mozzarella sticks were dry and overpriced. Her and another person in the group had ordered a steak that was over done and leathery (they asked for medium done and it felt like eating a leather boot). The table next to her had been waiting for a coke for about 45 min. The waiter was rude, arrogant, and presumptuous. Not to mention overpriced as hell.

Food was delicious and beautifully presented. My friend and I both loved our dinners and the chic ambience of the restaurant. Charles did a great job as our server; answering any questions we had. This place is a gem!

The waiter, Charles, was extremely rude, presumptuous, and invasive towards me when I walked in and took too much of my time. He was coercive while I was signing the check (to tip) and he had audacity to ask for my number. Do not come here alone especially as a woman of color.

Very expensive. Weird pricing. Like why is something 31.05 and not just 31.00 or 27.60 and not 27.50.
Pricing like this is just a turnoff. Sorry but that’s my opinion. Not for me. Fried mozz….17.25 that’s crazy. Can get it for 10-12 dollars at good restaurants. To the owner. Then you should adjust what people see online. Don’t you think what people see online is what they will go by?
Make the adjustment. I’ll be waiting to see something different price wise. And look at what Cassandra wrote.
