What a delightful dinner. The restaurant is beautifully done, the lighting and art work on the walls make for an aesthetically pleasant dining experience. For starters we had the crispy calamari which was perfectly cooked. Lots of flavor. For our entree I had the Bistecca Griglia and my girlfriend had the gnocchi al Forno. Both entrees were absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly and p packed with flavor. To end the night we shared a tiramisu which was probably one of the best tiramisu I have had. Overall the service, restaurant and food were excellent!!!

Dining street-side at Trattoria Appia during the festival, our meal presented a mixed impression. The Caesar salad’s ‘chicken’ was notable for being a deep-fried, thinly cut item reminiscent of pork schnitzel, alongside average spaghetti and meatballs. The service was notably slow, and given the overall quality, the pricing felt excessively high, resulting in an experience that regrettably didn’t merit a return visit.

Edit 3-3-2026 we returned the Meatballl dish, only tried one bite, but they were nice enough to give us the cheese cake for the problems with slow service.

the date was a street festival in summer of 2025 july 05

It was a Sunday night, there was 15 of us. I think the waiter was Steven. Including tip, apps a few people got wine, we paid approximately $48/person. It was quiet enough for us to have conversations. Everything was clean and neat and everyone was professional. We will definitely go back.

Very tasty Italian food and good service! We ordered the stuffed rigatoni and chitarra vongole clam pasta, and both were yummy. The pasta was homemade and you could see someone making raviolis as you entered the restaurant. The clam pasta actually had lemon pepper in the noodles, which was unique. Parking was difficult, especially with snow on the streets. It was very busy for a Saturday dinner, so a reservation is recommended.

Really pretty restaurant, but I got really bad experience on the food. And the service was very slow. Appetizers are all small and cold, we were sitting there for over an hour and the pasta we ordered was still not on the table. I don’t know what’s wrong but there were only a few cook in the restaurant and serving a few groups of people. I had the handmade black ribbon pasta and when I finally got it, part of the pasta was hot and part of them was already cold. I did not think that’s a big deal at the beginning, but the pickled sauce was just warm and really strong. It got me to the bathroom immediately and kept sending me to the bathroom until 3 am. I cannot believe what we had for a hundred dollars. This is the first time I visited and will be my last time.

Nice little romantic place. Great for a date night. Pasta is handmade which gives it a very fresh and authentic taste.

Went here for the first time with a friend for a Saturday night dinner, we made our reservation online which was super useful because the restaurant was fairly busy. The staff was great! Very attentive which was nice. We both ordered pasta since we weren’t too hungry for additional things. The dishes were both delicious! We would definitely visit again!

We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The ambiance is modern and the space was clean and comfortable—pleasant, though nothing particularly memorable. Our server, Simone, greeted us quickly and remained courteous throughout the evening.

We started with the Mozzarella in Carrozza, which was solid but nothing memorable. For our mains, we ordered the Gnocchi al Forno, Farfalle alla Appia, and Penne alla Vodka, opting to substitute housemade Cavatelli for an additional $6 and adding fried chicken for another $8. The food overall was good, but not exceptional—and the portions were surprisingly small for dinner entrées, especially given the price point.

A few odd details:The bread and olive oil were brought out after our appetizer, which was just bizarre. It’s a basic part of the dining experience that usually comes at the start, so the timing felt completely off. Additionally, when Simone offered the housemade pasta and fried chicken upgrade, she didn’t mention the upcharge. It may have been buried somewhere in the fine print of the menu, but it caught us off guard when we saw it on the bill.

Unfortunately, the billing process became the most frustrating part of the evening. The check was so faintly printed it was nearly unreadable, and the credit card receipts were just as bad—we even had to write “Please replace the toner” on the restaurant’s copy. When I pointed it out, Simone attempted to read the total out loud but got it wrong. In the end, we had to check the transaction on our phone to confirm the amount. This kind of confusion is bizzare and unacceptable, especially for a place branding itself as fine dining.

We’ve dined at many fine restaurants, and while every place has its quirks, this experience felt uneven. If Trattoria Appia wants to be considered in the fine dining category, it needs to offer more than just decent food—the full experience should feel polished and thoughtful. Sadly, that wasn’t the case for us.

Our experience at Trattoria Appia in Providence was fantastic, and it was truly because of our server, Gianni. From the moment we were seated, she was warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She checked in at all the right times and made thoughtful recommendations that made the night feel special.

Gianni highly recommended the tiramisu, and wow — it was absolutely outstanding. Perfectly balanced, rich without being too heavy, and hands-down one of the best tiramisus I’ve had. I’m so glad we trusted her suggestion because it was the perfect ending to the meal.

Service like Gianni’s makes all the difference. She genuinely elevated our entire experience, and because of her, we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend Trattoria Appia — ask for Gianni!

Our reservation was at 4:45 and we were seated at a very small table, which is understandable for a holiday. What wasn’t understandable was everything that followed.

We ordered calamari — it was good — but we received about 10 pieces while watching other tables get literal mounds of the same appetizer. Same dish, completely different portions.

Then came the drinks. It took 45 minutes to get a single glass of wine. Forty-five minutes… for wine.

Our entrees took an hour and a half to arrive. We ordered vodka penne pasta without meat, but I’m genuinely shocked it took that long for such a simple dish. Waiting 90 minutes for what is essentially 6 minutes of pasta is unacceptable.

We also had to ask twice for the complimentary bread before it finally showed up.

To top it off, every other table received a Valentine’s Day rose — we didn’t. Only after all of this were we handed one, which honestly just felt awkward at that point.

I understand Valentine’s Day is busy, but this experience felt disorganized and careless. Between inconsistent portions, extremely slow service, forgotten basics, and poor timing, what should have been a special night turned into frustration. Unfortunately, not worth repeating.
