We made reservations for 8 people at 6:15 pm. Although the table was not ready, yet quickly made our accommodations ready for us. A Friday night. Not busy at all.
Our adult beverages were delicious. The food was scrumptious. The waitress Erika was terrific. We will be back again. Support small business.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, a strange layout with different sections but still nice.Kids menu is inexpensive which is great for families. For appetizer had the smoked wings, which were moist and flavorful but didn’t come with a sauce. A sauce would have taken them to another level. Also got the spinach artichoke is was cheesy goodness with fresh made chips. For entree I had the steak croquette which was a good medium rare. The gravy was phenomenal. The sweet potato tacos didn’t come with a sauce or sour cream which would have elevated it further. The place doesn’t like sauces even had to ask for ketchup. Other than that it was a good experience with a good wait staff. I would come again.

We stopped in last evening. We started with a tasting, then enjoyed some appetizers at the bar. The Charcuterie Board, Lamb Lollipops, and Shrimp Cocktail were on the menu – the lamb was definitely our favorite! Despite a power outage, the staff handled everything smoothly and were super friendly. So thrilled to have another fantastic winery & restaurant nearby

After witnessing what an amazing job they did at the Michigan City location, we were eager to experience what changes that Shady Creek Winery made at the Trailyard. We were warmly greeted by Jane and quickly seated at our table. The place has a full bar with specialty drinks in addition to the full lineup of Shady Creek wines. There is an extensive list of appetizers, salads and entrees. Our server Johnny was attentive and friendly. The manager Daniel visited our table to welcome us to the new venue. JT, a long time presence in Michigan City, also visited our table. Our appetizers and meals were exceptional. Pork chops were our entree choice this time. We would certainly order them again but other menu items are also attractive. We complimented the talented Chef Jeff when he visited our table. Don’t forget dessert – there are plenty of choices. There are so many restaurants in Valparaiso that The Trailyard will have to be a destination restaurant to be successful. I think they accomplished that goal!

From start to finish, our lunch outdoor dining experience was delightful! Food and service was outstanding. Creekside Golf course to one side and trails to the other. I am not sure if they have live music, but that would be amazing. Cocktails were also top notch. We will be back!!

It was an interesting experience going here. There was live music in the bar at dinner time and quite a few people were over there but we were the only people in the restaurant. Not a problem, we arrived later at night. Our server was very knowledgeable about the drink specials and made several recommendations about the menu options.

The old fashioned was delicious and everything you would want in an old fashioned.

The fries were very crispy and the pulled pork sandwich with the house pickles together just made one of the best pulled pork sandwiches we have ever tried.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the Elk Burger, which is also one of the more expensive entree options. The meat itself is good, but it felt a little mealy after so many bites. Serving it with a fried egg is a good idea but once the yolk ran out it felt like it was missing something.

The most odd thing in this burger though is the single thick cut slice of bacon. It was not crispy, but even if it was I’m not sure it would have helped. I could not take a bite out of this burger without pulling everything off with the bacon and it requires me holding the piece down like a chew toy to snap off a piece. I think there is a reason people use thinly sliced bacon for burgers.

I would 100% recommend the General Tso Cauliflower. This is the best dish we had there. The sauce is amazing, the cauliflower was perfectly fried and it was so crispy and crunchy. We could have demolished multiple bowls of it. It could use a little more in each order but when it’s so good, I can’t complain.

Overall I’d recommend this place.

Last night was our first time there. Our server was rushed but was doing the best she could. There were 4 tables, including us, but two of them had 7 people each. I got the pasta fagioli and brisket tacos. Both were very good. The brisket does not compare to Prime Smoked Meats but it’s still good. My husband ordered the elk burger but they no longer carried it, so he got the ribs, which he loved. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery. Delicious. We were thinking about dessert but the waitress brought the bill before we could order any. Next time, we will try some of the desserts. We stood around at the coffee shop for a while but no one came. (It’s possible they weren’t open at that time, I’m not sure.) I did notice that they carried local juice and local coffee. That’s awesome. The art on the walls was beautiful. The atmosphere is great. The temp inside the restaurant was cool but it was also -10 degrees outside so it’s understandable. All in all, we will be trying this place again because the food was delicious. The bathrooms are clean, too! Bonus.

A beautiful building and atmosphere! Just past downtown Valpo overlooking walking and biking trails. A wide selection on the menu from surf to turf and vegan options in between. Buffalo cauliflower was so good the aoli was unnecessary! Wine flights a must. Food was delicious and the servers were lovely.
