Was looking for a nice spot for our Saturday night date. This was perfect, our waitress helpful and very friendly. The cauliflower wings looked so good when they came out we dug in before I could even get the picture. It’s a little hidden gem in uptown and we are so happy we found it. Highly recommend!!

We arrived on a Friday evening and it was only a 20 min wait to be seated on the patio. Food was AMAZING! Started with the brussel sprouts which were unique and delicious. The wonton strips added the perfect crunchy texture. Signature burgers, salads, and fries were all amazing too. The salad was more of an upscale salad that had the perfect flavor. Fries were piping hot and oh so crunchy. Drinks were delicious as well. Service was a little slow (35+ min wait for entrees, 15+ min wait for drinks), but they were really busy, so totally understandable! Everyone we had an encounter with was very friendly! We will definitely be back to try something new!

Happened upon this place on a recent search. We met the parents here for breakfast. It’s conveniently located just off High Trestle Trail so it’d be a good place to stop at the beginning or end of a day’s excursions. The space was beautiful, the service was impeccable, and the food was incredible! I tried Mom’s Biscuits & Gravy and it tasted like pure comfort! The real gold star goes to the dish I ordered, though. The Salmon Benedict with pickled onions added. Holy moly! My mouth is watering just thinking of it! What a perfect amalgamation of flavors! Seriously…I kind of already want to go back, and I don’t typically repeat restaurants. SO GOOD!!! I know you’re thinking that eggs benedict is the same everywhere and you can add whatever toppings but not everyone has good execution. The one I got was PERFECTION.

Trailside Tap is a must-visit in Ankeny! The back patio is amazing. The Berry Summer Salad and Three Pepper Burger were packed with flavor and just the right size. And do yourself a favor—order the Mulberry Mule. You won’t regret it!

Went there but realized their prices were higher than the menus we had seen others post.
The food was fine, but I’m not sure good enough to be that pricey. And the Brussels sprouts were a bit burned rather than charred.
The mules and beers seemed to be more reasonably priced, so if that’s what you want, I’m sure it’s good.
And they charge extra to use a credit card as well as starting tips at 20%.

Enjoyed the berry bliss chicken salad and the Trailside burger. Wish they offered the regular menu earlier than 2 pm as brunch goes til then and I was excited about their weekend special salad that was not offered at 1 pm.

Great small resturant along the Tressel bridge trail. Lots of seating inside nd really cool area outside. Staff was friendly and sat us quickly. Lots of beer choices on tap. 1 page menu with plenty of options for most tastes. We ordered crab cakes and a hamburger. The food arrived quickly. The atmosphere is definitely built around being outdoors and biking.
The hamburger was juicy full of flavor and prepared perfectly. The fries where fried and definitely had a fried taste. The crab cakes where average but cooked perfect with some crispy tastes. The food was better then bar food and would serve well if coming off a bike ride. The beer was cold and delicious.

was visiting some friends in Ankeny and we wanted to find a good lunch spot. The weather was perfect and we wanted to sit outside. We opted for the Trailside Tap. First off, I LOVE what Ankeny is doing in this uptown neighborhood. Cute storefronts, plenty of options to shop, eat, and drink. I really liked this outdoor patio. There was a bar area, TVs, plenty of seating, even some shuffle ball courts. The downside was that my furry friend wasn’t welcome to join so she had to stay in the car. **Don’t come for me, we took her out for a walk in the shade partway through the meal and had it running with the air on as well.** 🙂 this brunch burger looked awfully tasty with the everything bagel. The burger initially came out a little underdone, but the staff was happy to accommodate. The french fries were deliciously crispy and honestly, I was a little envious of this BLT. The sourdough, bacon, and fresh tomato, looked pretty much like summertime on a plate. However, I thought that my mediterranean grain bowl was exactly what I wanted. It was very flavorful, it had contrasting textures, was nutrient packed, and just the right portion. It came with kale, quinoa, kamut, feta, grape tomato, edamame, crispy chickpea, and a tahini lemon dressing. I added a salmon fillet and it was cooked perfectly. I didn’t realize that they only were doing the brunch menu on the weekend and was a little sad that I couldn’t order the seared shrimp lettuce wraps I had my hopes on when I looked at the menu. Maybe next time!

We’ve been here twice. First time was fine. Long wait time but a really good burger.

Today we went for lunch and my wife could not finish more than a bite of her sandwich. She ordered the caprese pesto chicken sandwich and said it had a bit of a bite to it. I took a bite and it was spicier than most things I’ve had that were advertised as spicy. There was no warning on this one.

Hoping it was a one time miss, but will be more diligent about asking about spice levels.

Both times have been long wait times from ordering to food arriving. Fries and ranch are really good.
