On our way to the Rocky Mountains National Park Sep last year, we stopped by here for buffalo burger which is rather dry and bland. Should have ordered a beef burger or the mountain man. The view however is gorgeous.

For a “tourist” restaurant, this place was great. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. It has a full bar with nice wine list and local beer selections. In fact, the bratwurst and French Onion soup were some the best I have ever had. As expected, given its location right outside the park, the prices are a little high, but not bad.

The ambience is good. The food and service were not great. Mainly the trailhead burgers were awful. 3 people of our group ordered them and we could not even finish them. Not worth it

It was a wonderful place to dine after a long hike on a chilly day. The service was exceptional, and our needs were always met. I recommend skipping the beef hamburger and instead enjoying the elk stew with peach cobbler a la mode.

Our dinner at the Trailhead Restaurant was truly a memorable experience. The outdoor seating provided an unmatched setting, offering breathtaking mountain views that significantly enhanced our dining. My choice of fish and chips turned out to be a delight, striking a perfect balance of flavor and crispness. Considering the quality of the food and the ambiance, I am certainly looking forward to revisiting the Trailhead Restaurant during my next trip to Estes Park.

Love this place. The food is good and the views are beautiful. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Went here on a whim one morning and loved it so much, we went back the next day. Their breakfast is fantastic and the portions are well-sized, so I was full! It’s a perfect stop on your way in to the National Park!

The food was excellent and the atmosphere and views were fantastic. We had an hour to kill before our timed entry so we decided to grab lunch – and we were very happy with the Trailhead Restaurant. It’s not fast food but we were able to order quickly and had a great lunch seeing the great views.

Took my girl there for an Elk burger with cheese $21.99. Although we felt that $22 was outrageous we both ordered one. Waiter recommended order medium which we would anyway because it’s the way we eat meat. First off the waiter never brought any silverware ,napkins never ask for a drink refill (we had alcoholic beverages. ) When the Burger’s arrived, they were like a hockey puck. They were more than well done far from being medium. These burgers were almost to the point of not being able to chew them. I called for manager after a lot of talking in the kitchen one finally came to the table. I told her how disappointment we were with the $22 hamburger that you couldn’t eat. In fact, I showed it to her because we did not eat them. She wanted to cover the whole bill including our alcoholic beverages, which we did not allow her to do. We paid for alcohol and we left. We will never go back. I highly recommend you stay away from this place as we should’ve known when we pulled in that the parking lot was empty. I’ve eaten lots of Elk meat in Colorado and Montana and I’ve never had anyone serve me something as pitiful as this.

After a nice day of hiking, we wanted a good beer and some lunch. Came across this gem. They had bonkers views of the mountains and plenty of seating the place itself doubled as a little gift shop. Plenty of hats, shirts, mugs, all sorts of totchkes.

The food and beer selection is good as well. Great little spot, go here.

We ordered a Patty Melt with fries and a Reuban sandwich with onion rings. The Patty Melt was served on marble rye as you might expect, but the burger was half the size of the bread, so there was an inordinate amount of extra bread that was not toasted. The fries looked and tasted like day old McDonalds fries WITHOUT the salt. Really dreadful. The Reuban was one third corned beef and two thirds sauerkraut. The onion rings were pretty good (hence the one star). Really lovely scenery and the staff were great. But to charge $18.99 for each sandwich was criminal. DON’T ORDER BURGERS OR SANDWICHES HERE.
