Very disappointed with my experience at Trail Dust. The food here is honestly phenomenal, which makes this even more disappointing.
After working a 16-hour shift, I treated myself to brisket meal my absolute favorite on Friday 2/6 evening and made one simple request when I called in: please don’t wrap it in foil. That’s just my personal preference.
When I picked up my order, a young male teenager maybe early 20’s employee mocked me, called me a “conspiracy theorist,” and then sarcastically asked if I use fluoride in my toothpaste. I’m not sure what that had to do with my food request, but it felt unnecessary and disrespectful.
I’m a local small business owner in Morgan Hill and always try to support other small businesses. It’s extremely difficult to find good quality workers these days. I don’t blame the owner, however, customers shouldn’t be mocked for simple requests.

The manager personally reached out to me and sincerely apologized for the experience. I truly appreciated the professionalism and accountability. It meant a lot that they took the time to address the situation directly. That level of care reinforces why Trail Dust continues to be one of my favorite local restaurants.

Food was great but the lady that helped us out had an attitude from the start. Idk if it was because we pulled up 30 min before closing time or what…pulled pork is so good here, Mac and cheese doesn’t taste like it’s out of a Kraft box.

If someone gave me a business card that said “real dentist” on it, I’d immediately start to question the validity of that dentist. That’s why I was skeptical when I saw that Trail Dust had a sign that said “real smoked BBQ”. Their sauce bottles also threw me off. It said how it has all natural ingredients and then it went on to say all the things that weren’t in the sauce. There was no high fructose corn syrup, no MSG, no gluten, and no major allergens. They didn’t mention one ingredient that was actually in the sauce. I’m sure there are plenty of things that aren’t in this sauce, I just want to know what’s in it.
I could have got past that stuff if the food was great, but that wasn’t the case. The cornbread was burnt. They should see if people want their cornbread well done, medium well, medium, or rare. I also got the brisket, which was underwhelming. I told my friend about it later and he said never to get the brisket here. Apparently their tri-tip is much better. I initially ordered that, but they were out. Overall, if I’m going to give myself heartburn there are other places that I’d prefer to do that at.

Highly recommend, there is a good reason this restaurant is always busy with good traffic. The BBQ plates and sandwiches are terrific. Too many great choices, good pairing with local and draft beers and their sides are delicious. The staff is super friendly and courteous and plenty of seating to enjoy inside or out. Perfect for all size parties…

Picked up a weasel down in Gilroy ..mean and nasty as can be, just like Rosie O’Donnell only not as stinky, got him from an old geezer named Whotootin Bob at his pelt farm The Wicked Weasel. My resident female weasel lost her mate in a fight with a bobcat, so this boy is going to be her new boyfriend. Back to the Napa Valley, but first I’ve got to stop at the Trail Dust BBQ in Morgan Hill for a rack of those world famous Ribs! And let me tell you…they were Amazing!
5 stars all the way. ☆☆☆☆☆
Oh…and the new weasel love the bones!

$25 for a brisket meal and soda, kinda steep but the brisket was the most tender I’ve eaten. Staffs were super cool and would deliver meals to tables too. Hope they get by cuzit was not too busy. I have jury duty at nearby courthouse and glad to find this BBQ place.

I’m a BBQ connoisseur, who when passing through a new town can’t resist to stop by and try the local bbq spot. You will not be disappointed when you stop by, even though the presentation was subpar the Brisket sandwich was fire, the Mac n Cheese was fire, the coleslaw was fire (a little sweet) but I like that. Great beer selection, they had a Cat Coffee Stout Collaboration beer and it was outstanding. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming I wish I lived here and could visit as a regular. The bathrooms we clean and tidy, so I knew they were going to have bomb food.

The breakfast tacos are outstanding. I enjoy the brisket with scrambled eggs and barbecue sauce holding the jalapenos. What deal at $5.73 with tax. They are doggies friendly too.
