El Sabor de Casa is a true hidden gem Cuban restaurant that offers an incredibly authentic experience, especially for anyone seeking real Cuban food in the Spring Hill area. From the outside, the building is very unassuming — easy to overlook if you don’t already know it’s there — but once you step inside, it immediately feels like you’ve entered the heart of Cuban culture. The atmosphere is casual, lively, and clearly loved by locals, many of whom were speaking Spanish, which only added to how authentic the experience felt. There was a steady line out the door, which is usually a good sign that a place is doing something right.
The ordering process is set up like a cafeteria-style lunch line. You wait in line, move down the counter, tell them what you want, and pay at the end. The menu is straightforward but packed with classic Cuban staples, along with drinks and desserts you can add to your order. We ordered a Cuban pressed sandwich, a roast pork dinner that came with two sides, and two ham croquettes.
The Cuban sandwich was made to order right in front of us, and it was excellent — hot, fresh, perfectly pressed, and full of flavor. The roast pork dinner was something new for us, especially the yucca, which we had never tried before. It had a really interesting texture, somewhere between a cooked potato and a water chestnut, with a flavor that reminded me of sauerkraut. The yellow rice was well-seasoned and comforting, and the ham croquettes were crispy on the outside and delicious inside. We got our food to go, and even after the 10-minute drive home, everything was still hot, which says a lot about the quality and care in how it’s prepared.
That said, there was one part of the experience that kept this from being a five-star visit. When I ordered the Cuban sandwich — which had to be made fresh rather than pulled from the hot line — the woman behind the counter seemed visibly annoyed that it slowed down the assembly-line flow of the lunch service. Most other customers were ordering plated meals that kept the line moving quickly, and it felt like my order disrupted that rhythm. While the food itself was absolutely worth it, the interaction did feel a bit uncomfortable in the moment.
Even with that, the overall experience was still very positive. The food was authentic, flavorful, and clearly made the way Cuban food is meant to be. There is also dine-in seating available, though we chose takeout this time. The location being right off Spring Hill Dr, makes it convenient yet still very much a local hidden spot rather than a tourist destination.
If you’re looking for authentic Cuban cuisine, including Cuban sandwiches, roast pork, yucca, yellow rice, and croquettes, this place is absolutely worth checking out. Despite the small service hiccup, the food quality alone makes it a place we would return to, and it’s clear why locals keep coming back

First time coming to El Sabor de Casa in Spring Hill with my husband and LOVED our experience! The customer service was excellent and very nice staff. Our Cuban cafe con leche was perfect. Reminded me of my hometown Miami. We had a breakfast egg ham and cheese sandwich and it was awesome! The ham croquetas were so delicious. We also got a “completa” to go. On Thursday’s they serve Cuban style Goat meat “Chivo” with yuca and congri. Yum! The restaurant is small but super clean. If you’re craving authentic Cuban cuisine and awesome breakfast options come them out. I can’t wait to come again in a few days. This is now my new favorite place for when I am craving Cuban food with real home cooked flavors.

The food is amazing! The people who run the place are amazing! The quality and quantity for the price is amazing!
All around one of my favorite places in Spring Hill. And one of the only places that sell traditional Cuban sandwiches, as in roast pork, ham and Salami. The Cuban, a sandwich that originated in Tampa, FL my hometown. In Tampa you can find some of the best Cuban sandwiches, here in Spring Hill you find mostly Miami Cubans (no salami) and for me its just not the same.

This place is underrated! Just went looking for Spanish food. I’m Puerto Rican and I just moved out here from up north. This place is 6 minutes away from me. So it’s convenient for me and my family. When I walked in they greeted me, the atmosphere is nice and peaceful. The servers were great. The one who helped was so nice and kind. I’m used to fast and kinda rude people (people who act like they don’t have patience for you to make an order). But I prefer to not feel hesitant from being bum rushed. So that was nice. The food is 10/10 from the portion, flavor and of course the price. $10 bucks for a platter this size is amazing! Overall experience was awesome! I’d definitely come again and I recommend to anyone who craves some Spanish food! I got the Pernil with white rice, un toston and an alcapurria. All delicious.

Oh my gosh! This is by far. The best Cuban I have ever had. The sandwich was amazing. My husband had the pork sandwich which was amazing and we had plantains which were again amazing. This is definitely my new go to place.

The yuca and ensalada fría were great. I didn’t love the congri and the meat in the carne con papas was a little dry. Prices were great and portions amazing. The service was okay, one of the girls was really nice (the shorter one) but the other one was not very nice and not once said anything back to me when I said muchas gracias a couple of times, she just looked at me and gave me a stink eye (I think she was mad that I ordered a batido de mamey and messed up her lunch time flow).

Only 4 tables. Mostly take out. Love this place for authentic Cuban food. Large portions. You can definitely share. Slight language barrier, but point and they will know what you want. Everything is fresh. No need to drive to Tampa.
