The Breakfast King
Been wanting to try Trader Sam’s for years. While it’s not the easiest place to find, we made our way over and got some counter seats within 45 minutes of waiting. Which ain’t too bad considering how long it can really be. The staff were very friendly and the decor was spot on. I enjoyed the little shows and quips for each drink that they put on when someone ordered them. Oh and the mugs were really cool.
However, the drinks themselves were very lackluster and over expensive. I use painkillers as my baseline and I just didn’t enjoy it. I had a few others as well but the balance of flavors weren’t synchronizing. I was also extremely surprised to see Smirnoff and Bacardi so openly used on very expensive house drinks on the menu.
Now you should very much still come here and make your own opinion but I will more than likely not return.

A truly magical tiki bar. The service is fast, friendly, and great. The drinks are strong and balanced. The food was great. We go the pupu platter and enjoyed each portion of it. The prices are expensive but you are drinking in Disney property so that’s expected. A true treat for adults hidden in Disney! You gotta check it out if you are into tiki at all. Get a seat inside. You’ll be glad you waited for it.

I didnt know this was disney and decoded to go. Parking is interesting but once you get to the actual bar its great. The drinks are great and you can buy the cups! I love tiki and it was a great time despite it being Disney. They have some food but we just got the drinks and the mugs. Staff were very sweet. Shout out to the parking lady who helped us find the restaurant.

Trader Sam’s is something I’ve always wanted to try in WDW but couldn’t fit intbe schedule. Was in town for work and able to walk right up, sit at the bar and get a bite and drink. The pulled pork sweet potato fries were heavenly. Shipwreck on the rocks was so good and I loved how the bar came to life when you ordered it and other special drinks. 10/10

Why this place has only 4.4 is a mystery. It’s a STRONG 5!! For Tiki bars lovers, it is a jewel! The outstanding drinks, we had zombi & banana daiquiri omg!! For food orange glaze chicken wings & cucumber salad both are to die for! Place (at least inside) is not for kids, it has loud show that bartenders are making and a thunder storm entertainment! It’s awesome!!! Real special place with special people working there!! Love love love

Trader Sam’s makes so much sense in a modern Disneyland Hotel. A direct nod to Trader Vic’s, the original hotel-franchised Tiki Bar, the kitsch is the authenticity.
The concept is perfect for Disney. Performance, theater, and escapism are always what tiki bars have been. The imagineering team are the perfect crew to pull off the “we all know we’re in a landlocked hotel, let’s have fun with it” schtick.
And of course, the cocktails are proper. Blends of interesting rums, classic recipes, and made with technique – not pre-batched like many performative Disney bars.
So often, Disney restaurants feel derivative in the pursuit of perceived class or nostalgia. But with Trader Sam’s, that actually adds to the effect and has created a genuinely world-class entry in the category.

Tiki bar with tropical drinks and a limited food menu. Inside is heavily themed but due to limited seating is difficult to get a reservation and typically has a long wait. There is more outdoor seating but there isn’t the theming. Service was very good. The food and drinks were good. Prices were in line with what you’d expect to pay at a resort restaurant.

This place is a must-do if you’re in the area. Located in Downtown Disney, adjacent the Disneyland Hotel pool, so park tickets are not required.
Kelly is an outstanding bartender and comedian; we’ve been here 3 years in a row on our visits from Australia and have been lucky enough to get the same seats AND same great bar tender each time (Kelly).
Drinks are great, food is about average and prices are high (to be expected).
Regardless, there are gimmicky drinks that cause effects/reactions in the bar which adds to the already impeccable atmosphere.
A non-negotiable for your visit to the Disneyland Resort. However, expect a bit of a wait to get in.

So I’ll start with the good. The food was top-notch, the drinks were exquisitely crafted, and the tiki mugs were excellent.
My wife got the Pupu Plater. Every part of it was delicious, but the orange chilie wings really stood out as the best.
I got the Poke Bowl, Ahi tuna. The poke was good. It reminded me of a less spicy version of a poke back home. It’s worth the price, at least.
For the drinks, I got a Shipwreck on the Rocks and Piranha Pool. The Shipwreck was strong but not overbearing. The Piranha Pool was very sweet and more of a dessert, I loved it.
My kids got cheeseburgers, pretty mid to be honest.
We did get dessert while we were there. I got the coconut cake, best coconut cake I’ve ever had.
No for the bad. Unfortunately when we showed up at 5pm, the hostess was quite rude. I had asked for inside seating and made it clear we didn’t mind waiting. She snapped and told us it was too late and the kids could not go in there. The app shows kids can sit inside up until 8pm, if that’s no longer the case it needs to be changed. I shouldn’t be chastised by a hostess over it.
My next complaint still falls on the hostess, I requested seating in the shade since we are from Alaska and the heat was quite intolerable at times. She placed us directly in the sun, thankfully our server was able to move us to a better spot. I took 1 star off the service for the rude hostess, our waitress was fantastic.
The atmosphere really can’t be helped much. We were seated outside, not inside as requested.
At the price point of $240 and the disappointing service of the hostess, we will not be returning to Trader Sam’s Disneyland. I’ll take the drive next time and find a different tiki bar.

Party of two, was seated at the bar with no wait at around 6PM on a late August Monday. The drinks were amazing, the souvenirs are fun, and the staff is very fun and friendly! Highly recommend sitting inside as you get to enjoy the staff and special effects, though you are limited to ninety minutes.
