The Price of Disappointment
If you’re looking to waste your money on a buffet experience that will leave you utterly defeated, then you’ve found the perfect place! I recently returned to this establishment, and my hopes of a decent meal were not just dashed; they were annihilated. The prices have shot up like a rocket, but the quality of the food has plummeted to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

Let’s talk about the so-called “food.” The fried shrimp must have been a former life form, because it tasted like an archaeological dig in my mouth—dry, brittle, and utterly flavorless. As for the “fried rice,” it appeared to be nothing more than some bland, parboiled rice that someone had haphazardly tossed a few questionable bits into. Most of the dishes on the buffet were stone-cold, a chilling testament to either utter neglect or a complete disregard for food safety.

Do yourself a favor and keep driving. Save your taste buds and your wallet by heading across the street to the place they now call Shanghai. I’ve only been there once, but it was miles better than this culinary crapshoot.

If you’re in the mood for a good quality buffet, look somewhere else, and don’t come back here.

Give this one a pass. I’ve given this place three chances over the last few years. The first visit was shortly after they opened, everything was very cold, old, mostly bland and the sushi was kinda iffy. I gave them a second visit about a year later, chalking the first experience up to growing pains of a new business. The second time, the hot food was actually decent and seemed fresh, though the sushi was still questionable and the fruit and cold dishes seemed very old. I visited with a friend the other day, paid $40 for a really dismal, old and cold dinner buffet. The place was deserted, with good reason. The sushi was rubbery and worse than the last time and the hot food was genuinely old and stale, like it was served again and again, drying out under heat lights. We had some fresh hibachi made, which was actually fairly good as it was freshly made, but I do wonder about the age of the raw ingredients, the green onions for hibachi were dried out and very old looking for example. My friend and I both laughed days later about the awful stomach aches we had after and swore off the place for good. We are both very easy going and not picky, I rarely leave a bad review but after three visits and the cost of this place, I’d want to know.

To the credit of the server and hibachi guy, the service isn’t bad or anything. The atmosphere rating is because the place was deserted and all the food looked visibly old and dehydrated, soups looking congealed and nasty, and the sushi rice being crunchy and dried out. The actual facility is nice enough looking.

We had a great experience at this place. It surpassed our expectations. The staff was great, the food was great, the variety was great, as were the decorations. On the weekend the buffet is $16 per person. But well worth it.

The food was good. The plates seemed smaller than usual and got some plates next to the hibachi grill. Atmosphere seemed elegant and clean. A good selection of Asian cuisine. They had some Chinese food and not purely Japanese food. Egg rolls, sesame chicken etc. is Chinese. A decent amount of sushi to choose from. Overall, a good restaurant.

I don’t normally like buffets, but we saw they had sushi and crossed our fingers for some variety. They didn’t disappoint — the selection was much larger than I expected with way more options than anticipated. The food itself was good. Drink service, however, was awkward. Instead of bringing fresh cups or a water pitcher, they took the cup you were already using, left the room, and came back with the same cup refilled. It just felt strange. I wouldn’t go back unless I hadn’t eaten in two days.

Recently tried this place for the first time and I was skeptical if it was good based on the Google reviews and the 3.6 star rating as I usually do not eat anywhere under a 4 star rating. Well, needless to say, my skepticism served its purpose. The taste of the food (flavor) is very lack luster. Probably one of the worst tasting Chinese buffets I’ve ever been to in my entire life. The food selection is mediocre. Not nearly as optional as I am used to for a Chinese buffet. If you can get Chinese food out of your mind, you’d have more options at Golden Corral if that makes sense. The hibachi is decent but my food could have been cooked better. My egg was very tough like the texture of old baked chicken that sat out for an hour or more. Don’t waste your $10 for crab legs, they taste like they came straight out the ocean but rinsed and cooked in unsalted/unseasoned water. I’m telling you now, it’s a waste of additional money if you think their crab legs are the business. They are the total opposite. I hate to be so harsh with my review but I really don’t want you to waste your time if reviews are what you depend on for trying new places. If I could rate this restaurant on a scale of 1-10, I’d give it a 3. Real Google reviewer here, no gimmicks. Very underwhelming buffet.

Today my family and I went back to Toyosu Buffet, a place we’ve enjoyed before, but this visit was disappointing in several ways.

Let’s start with the automatic gratuity. We were not informed that gratuity would be automatically added to our bill. We only realized it after doing our own calculations while deciding what tip to leave. This kind of policy should be clearly disclosed upfront. It also removes the customer’s ability to reward great service or withhold a tip for poor service, since the staff gets it automatically regardless of performance.

Now, about the food. There seemed to be more meat options this time, which was nice. The first batch of mussels was actually good, fresh and flavorful. However, when they brought out the next batch, it tasted completely different, almost like it had been sitting too long or cooked differently. Some of the other meat options were also quite dry on the inside and hard to swallow, though they still had decent flavor. But flavor alone can’t save a dish when you’re struggling to get it down.

Our server was attentive and kind, especially since it wasn’t too busy at the time. Her service really helped make the experience more pleasant, and I do appreciate her effort.

Unfortunately, the sushi was the dealbreaker. The first round of salmon sushi was decent, but when they refilled it, the new pieces had bones in every single one. That’s unacceptable. It shows careless preparation and a lack of quality control in the kitchen, and it’s honestly a safety concern for diners.

Overall, I’d give half a star for our server’s attentiveness, but the rest of the experience, from undisclosed gratuity to inconsistent food quality and bone filled sushi, ruined the meal for us. Sadly, I can’t recommend Toyosu Buffet to my friends or family anymore.

UPDATED REVIEW:
Nothing has changed much since my last review. You pay before sitting and eating, kids 3 and under eat for free. Restrooms are located at the front as well.

Selections are still the same, noodle and ramen bar which is not good. No chicken wings, no ice-cream and everything is just mediocre.

Service is slow and the restaurant was empty on a Sunday afternoon.

I wouldn’t come here again, the buffets have really gone down in value and quality.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This new buffet just opened up and we decided to try it out since it had some new components that the other buffets didn’t have and that was noodle soups! You pay before you are seated and it’s at $27.99 per person on Sundays and all evenings which is very pricey for a buffet. Unfortunately, it disappointed and it disappointed at such a high price. The noodle and soups were okay, it was poorly labeled as well as rest of the other food. Ice-cream was not self serve so if there wasn’t an employee behind the counter, you would have to go find them or not get served at all. It was chaotic and the service was okay, I believe Hibachi is still the better of all buffets in the area and for a cheaper price so don’t pay the high price that I did and go elsewhere!
