Very Korean! Love coming here. Food is amazing. Seafood pancake is amazing. Kimchi fried rice is super flavorful. Love the spicy pork. Those 3 are always my go to order. I’ve tried the japchae, fried chicken, corn cheese and kimchi cheese pancake. All are amazing. I like the soju cocktails they make as well. I’m pretty sure I tried all the flavors. On a weekend or Friday night it’ll be busy and there will be a wait around dinner time but you can put your name and phone number down. I like how they are open late as well. Service is good and I like how they have a button to call the waiter. I always recommend people to come here.

Decoration of this place is lovely! Almost feels like the inside of a ship, lots of wood and dark tones. And huge win for staying open late! Staff is very polite and I’ve heard that their drinks are good, but the food doesn’t stay behind! I tried their Beef Kimchi Fried Rice, Chicken Gizzard Stir Fry, Calamari Stir Fried and Calamari Soup, they were all tasty. Honest Korean food, good servings for a decent price! And if you are coming for a late night dinner or something, parking is a breeze! I have been here a few times and will be back again!

If you wanna cozy at home feeling comfort meal come to this spot! I just revisited this place over the weekend and haven’t been back in a couple of years. Came on a Saturday night around 6:15 and waited about 40 minutes or so. It gets packed on Saturday.

Their side of rice is so good! It tasted excellent with the army stew we had. The portions were huge. I maybe would skip the chicken gizzard as it was a little overdone and salty.

Every dishes are tasty and flavourful. The servers are very prompt and accurate. Addition that they open until late when the whole city dinner is closed early. I asked them to cook food for my dad special dietary, they happy to cook it and it came out perfect. Will be back when visit SF again and will recommend to everyone i know. Good job!

This place was introduced to me by someone close and I have been here a couple of times now. Upon arrival, there are lines or a wait for the most part, and you can add yourself to their waiting list. The interior is basically like the garage of a house, which makes it pretty unique. The cuisine here is Korean, their menu consists of small bites, casseroles, barbecue dishes, soju and much more. You do have to be the age of twenty one or older to have any alcoholic beverages here and they do check ID. The staffs here are welcoming, well trained and understanding where I never encountered any issues during any of my visits. The food is fresh daily, made to order which is just the way I like it and I never mind the wait since I am a very patient person. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid back spot, if you are willing to try something new or if you just so happen to be in the area. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.

We went around 8pm and was lucky it wasn’t overly busy. This place is cozy if not tight, but that’s part of the charm. Many local places in Korea are like this, usually even smaller so this place has that vibe. We’ve been here before but I’ve never written a review, but this visit compelled me to share one in hopes that management might see it.

This place is, and can be good, there are some dishes that are good, but some (on our visit) were just not good at all and would never order it again.

Let’s start with the bad.
Bulkogi -Was not good. Dry and bland, hardly any flavor, the stuff in the hot foods section at Kukje is far better (and it’s not exactly great). No excuse for this, and I don’t give any Korean restaurant slack for messing up a hallmark dish.

Cheese corn – If you like the idea of overly cooked canned corn (see pic) covered in a layer of melted cheese and nothing else as good, then my friend, you haven’t had good cheese corn. Would never order this again.

The good/ok.

Kimchee fried rice was good, tangy as it should be, with a fried egg on top.

Kimchee pancake was ok/good. Nothing to write home about but we were hungry, it came out fast and was decent enough. Sister House in Hayward makes a good example, nice and lightly crispy on the outside, good kimchee taste.

Service was friendly. The place is tidy, they clean up your area and might even vacuum before they seat you. They are open late which is great for people who work late or had a night out, and are hungry again.

Son comes here and always orders the fried chicken and some other things so those are probably better. Read other reviews and find out what others order and recommend.

Amazing place – I can’t think of another place where you only need to spend $15 per person and be so satisfied. Have the stew and you won’t regret it. Everything else is good too but the screw will have to be the center piece.
100% recommended!
Ps, the place is packed, come early or super late, or you’ll have to wait for 1 hr or so.

Located in quiet outer sunset neighborhood, Toyose had always been in my list and I finally got to try it. Went in for my Birthday dinner on Monday night and it was still packed. Had to wait for almost half an hour. Make sure to write your name down by the main door as it is first come first serve.
Restaurant is really cool with nifty artworks all around dining area. Food looks amazing and does taste great as well. Really liked their spicy pork and calamari stir fry! Spicy wings were just regular plain wings. I wasn’t expecting spicy wings to be so bland. Had to knock off a star because we were served undercooked rice and I had a bad stomach ache after few hours. Service is satisfactory. Overall, good food and pretty chill restaurant.

hidden gem tucked away in an outer sunset garage serving classic korean dishes and drinks in a lively background full of other groups of friends having fun. although the food wasn’t top tier, it was still pretty good and great to pair with reasonably priced drinks and fun vibes. compared to standard bar food, it definitely exceeds that. open late night but be prepared to wait over an hour on weekends. would come back to bring some friends!

seafood pancake: large portion, was decent but wouldn’t get again. maybe try kimchi pancake.

soon tofu soup: decent dish but wish it was spicier.

corn cheese: can’t go wrong with this appetizer.

chicken wings: nice and crispy but needed some sauce.

yogurt soju cocktail: delicious at a great price!

I’m surprised I haven’t reviewed Toyose as I’ve been going here for over ten years! There’s been a lot of changes throughout the years, lots of memories, staff changes, lots of price increase, some of the dishes quality has degraded, but this continues to be a great night spot with friends. Plus a walk to Ocean Beach always clears up any buzz!

The staff from the earlier days were more fun and seemed to enjoy working there. The staff from recent years seems like they just want to get paid and be out. I feel them. Maybe management has changed or it’s just different times.

My favorite dishes here are the Fried Chicken, corn cheese and spam stew, but I’ll eat just about everything on their menu honestly.

All in all, of course I would come back. I always do.
