This place was honestly a disappointment. The space didn’t look great — the floors were dirty — and the sushi itself was just off. The sashimi and rolls were oddly oversized, with huge cuts of fish and poor proportions. The rolls even came already drenched in soy sauce, so everything was soggy and falling apart. The whole experience felt careless. Definitely wouldn’t recommend coming here.

Great sushi place with large-sized rolls and fresh flavors.

Toyo is hands down our favorite sushi restaurant in the entire Bay Area. The sushi is always incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. Every roll is packed with high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the difference.
The service is fast, friendly, and consistent, they take great care of their customers. We come here all the time and it never disappoints. Highly recommend!

Sushi was absolutely delicious and chunky!! Just how I like it! No skimping on the portion sizes! The atmosphere is ok – small restaurant with tables just to sit and eat, nothing more, nothing less. If you just want good sushi, this is the place to go. You don’t go here for a vibe or to hang out and relax. Staff were very pleasant.

This was my 2nd time here. After my wife and I saw this place and were curious to try it the first time we had been wanting to return with our daughters.
The rolls here are huge and the pricing isn’t bad at all (by sushi standards).
Staff is friendly and attentive. I think we found our new favorite sushi spot.

The sushi was great, but like others have posted, the rolls are really large and make it difficult to eat.
The service was awesome very speedy and on brand.
The atmosphere is a normal bistro, and designed to be super fast.

The chef seared one of the fish even though I didn’t asked for it. Turns out that’s because it tastes foul and searing it doesn’t help.

We have been getting takeout from her for a long time and it’s been our go to sushi place. But lately they’ve been putting imitation crab in rolls that don’t say they have it. And tonight when we got rolls, the spicy tuna tasted really off – like a really sour taste and we couldn’t even eat it. Unfortunately we will need to find a new sushi place, b/c this one has gone downhill.

I have been coming here many times for a great sushi menu. We always ate sushi only. While they have the traditional sushi rolls, they also have many “crunchy” rolls with tempura crumbs, tempura shrimp or soft shel crab. They have “deep fried” rolls that are dipped in tempura batter and quickly dipped in hot oil. Very delicious! But today i decided to try other dishes from the menu, like the tempura plate, Chicken Karaage, soft shell blue crab and nigiri sushi.
The crab was crunchy and tasted fresh, not sure about the dipping sauce it came with. The tuna and salmon nigiri was good, fresh.
The tempura was also good, with the shrimp being the best. Some of the veggies were too big and too raw/hard in the center.
But the chicken karaage was the big disappointment. The look and color was not appealing at all, it almost looked liked it was just sprinkled with starch. It was not crispy, it was rubbery, and not tender enough.
So my recommendation is, stick to sushi at this place. It excellent for that. Service is also very good.
