Knowing how this place easily fills up for lunch – we arrived right at 11am when they change from breakfast to lunch menu.

The servers and entire staff are warm and welcoming and very attentive.

EVERYTHING is scratch made with the freshest of ingredients – delicious and lots of menu options.

We skipped dessert but they all sounded amazing.

When leaving there were quite a few people waiting for a table – so plan for arriving well before 12noon for lunch.

Not what it used to be. Server approached our table chewing food – wouldn’t make eye contact. Served me a deflated, tiny piece of quiche – all greasy cheese, no broccoli, broken crust. She saw the look of astonishment on my face but just walked away. I called over another employee who indicated that what I was served was not up to their standard and they would bring me another piece. The second piece was better, however certainly not what I’ve experienced here in the past. Their quiche used to be top notch.

The server never checked on us while we were eating. I visited the washrooms and found three employees in the hallway standing around eating food. Everyone is very friendly, but this place seems to have lost its way.

My last prior experience was about a year ago when I found a piece of glass in my food. They took the meal away, apologized, took it off the check, however never offered me an alternative meal. Rather, they just brought a free dessert.

This place is so quaint and perfect, I try to bring all my visitors here to show off st Charles. I’ve been there in the summer, fall, winter— and the place feels perfect for any time of year! It has such a cozy cafe atmosphere that seems hard to come by nowadays. You often find that cafes use a modern approach but Townehouse has held onto its charm it holds.

I’ve always been a huge fan of their soups and the signature salad! Only wish I have is that you could add chicken to it if you wanted some extra protein!

Everything about this place was absolute perfection! Almost like something you would see out of a Hallmark movie. The ambiance, the food, the service, the quality of the scratch made food, drinks, and desserts. We sat out on the patio and couldn’t believe how quaint and charming it was. Ordered sandwiches, an iced chai tea, clam chowder soup and a piece of bourbon pecan pie with the most incredible whipped cream on top. Everything was fabulous and flavorful. Absolutely obsessed with the rotating variety of quiches and desserts. I wish I lived closer, I’d be going weekly!!! Can’t wait to come back each season to enjoy everything that this place has to offer!!! A total gem!!!

Would NOT recommend – rude service

I visited TH Cafe with a friend for coffee and lunch, excited to try a local spot we hadn’t been to before. We ordered coffee, tea, soup, and sandwiches. The food and drinks were fine—nothing memorable, but not bad either.

Unfortunately, the visit ended on a bad note. We were catching up (I hadn’t seen her in awhile) and didn’t realize we had exceeded the cafe’s 90-minute seating policy when an older gentleman approached our table looking visibly upset. He informed us of the policy in a clipped, unfriendly tone. We immediately stood up, put on our coats, and I apologized, explaining we’d simply lost track of time while talking.

As we were already leaving the table, he added that there were patrons waiting and that the cafe was “losing service because of us.” While I completely understand and respect having a time limit (and was leaving without issue after his first remark) that final comment was rude and unnecessary. I did notice a person waiting as we left, but there was a wall between us and the entry way, so there was no way for my friend and I to know this while we were finishing our tea and coffee.

We left feeling bummed, which is unfortunate because otherwise the experience was fine. This service interaction overshadowed the visit, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Super disappointed on all fronts. Recommended this restaurant to a group of friends and left embarrassed. The people are lovely and pleasant, but the food and service were fair at best. Our waitress was extremely pleasant but did not check on us one time. Water glasses left empty which wouldn’t have been a problem if she brought us our teas. She asked why we didn’t tell her about the forgotten teas, but never gave us a chance to tell her until the meal was over. I ordered the quiche, and we were told there was only one slice left so my friend and I had to decide who would order something else. I ended ordering a soup and cold turkey sandwich which cost me over $20. The sourdough bread did not taste of sourdough, but rather some cheap, mass produced white bread. For the sake of fairness, she brought our table a slice of cake to share. Again, she was a lovely girl. The service was just lacking. I have a feeling they are content with their loyal clientele, and perhaps as a result, maybe they’ve stopped trying. Maybe it was just a bad day, but when you charge over $20 for a generic cold turkey sandwich and cup of soup, you would hope the quality and price would go hand and hand.

Lunch for 3. Tuna dill sandwich was ok but needed to drain the tuna more. Egg Salad Salad was very good although some additional romaine would help break up the lacy spring mix. The egg salad was really tasty. Writer’s Workshop (pick your own) ham sandwich was good. Chips were colorful and crunchy. Fruit salad was ok. Mocha latte was excellent. Friendly adult staff (no angry teenagers )! Would love to go back for dessert.

I love it here. The food is so fresh and homemade, the coffee is delicious, and I can’t refuse dessert when I eat here. Popping over to the bookshop to shop before or after you eat is so darling and novel.
Sandwiches seem a little expensive for some of the simpler ones, but it’s worth supporting a beautiful local business like this.

1st time at the outdoor space and it’s a cute space. Several steps so keep that in mind! Service was really very good! Roast beef with brie hot sandwich was delicious. We had it with kettle veggie chips which were plentiful and delicious. You can substitute fruit if you want. The tuna melt on pumpernickel is really good too. It needs a sharper serrated knife for easier cutting. Cookies are decadent buttery and sugary all good!! Popular spot and I recommend trying this café!

The food is pretty good and the staff is nice, but the Reuben was really uneven with meat and cabbage. The place has a nice atmosphere but feels as if it is made for short people and i hit my head a few times and the mirror in the bathroom was about a foot under my head so it was difficult to use. Other than that it is a really nice place with some pretty outdoor seating areas and good food. Would definitely go there for brunch with the family.
