I also adore the interior design — it feels cozy and modern at the same time. The staff are always friendly, polite, and ready to help with recommendations. Whether I stop by for a quick coffee and croissant or to grab something sweet for the family, it’s always a pleasant experience.
Highly recommend this location to anyone who loves quality pastries and great service!
But unfortunately, not everything about this bakery hits the same standard. One of the biggest issues I noticed right away was with the baked goods they keep out on display. A lot of the items looked stale, and in some cases, I even noticed flies hovering around them. That instantly makes you question how long those pastries and breads have been sitting out and what kind of quality control is happening behind the counter. It’s hard to enjoy a bakery when you can visibly see bugs near the food.
On top of that, my sister also shared her experience, and it wasn’t much better. She had purchased a cake that should have been fresh and delicious, but instead, it tasted stale almost like it had been sitting in the fridge for too long. That kind of inconsistency makes it hard to trust the bakery, because you never know if what you’re getting will be fresh or not.
It’s disappointing, because when Tour Le Jour is on point, the cakes really are tasty. But the lack of attention to freshness, the flies around the display, and the reports of stale products make it hard to recommend without hesitation. If they improved their handling of baked goods and focused more on quality control, this place could easily shine. For now, it feels like a hit-or-miss experience.
Tonight around 8:45 PM, my husband, toddler, and I walked into Tour Le Jour excited to grab a few pastries. I used to visit this franchise when I lived in Korea and was looking forward to introducing my husband to it.
Instead of a greeting, we were met with a prolonged, vindictive side-eye from one employee who slowly scanned me, my husband, and my child up and down. Not busy. Not rushed. Just dismissive. It was uncomfortable enough that I immediately felt our presence wasn’t welcome.
So we left.
I went back in alone to quickly purchase a couple desserts my husband had been eyeing. One employee was polite and conversational while I selected items. However, when I approached the register, the same employee who had glared at us earlier refused to ring me up. No explanation. Just a blunt refusal.
At that point, it stopped feeling like “end-of-night fatigue” and started feeling intentional.
For a customer-service establishment — especially one representing an international brand — basic hospitality shouldn’t be optional. If customers walking in before closing are an inconvenience, adjust your posted hours accordingly.
To add to the irony, the pastry I purchased was overbaked.
I don’t speculate on motives. I simply observe behavior. And the behavior tonight was unmistakable.
If you’re in the area and looking for quality pastries with genuinely welcoming service, Paris Baguette on Milwaukee is a strong alternative. Liquid Fusion nearby has also built a long-standing reputation for hospitality.
I hope ownership views this as feedback worth addressing — because reputation travels quickly.
When I spoke with the manager on the phone about the issue , he advised me to leave it at the room temperature for 10 minutes and it will be better . Still after 1 hour the cake texture is stale and it doesn’t taste nearly as Tiramisu cake would taste . Don’t like to leave bad reviews but manager was not helpful at all when I called and they sold us stale and surly not fresh cake.
