Toups Meatery in Mid-City serves modern Cajun style food with a strong focus on all things meat. Foie gras, wagyu steaks, and chicken confit are all on the menu, along with local staples like boudin balls and plenty of Gulf seafood. If you’re with a group and want to do it right, start with one of their cocktail pitchers and the Meatery Board, which includes a variety of house-made fresh and cured meats. If you don’t feel like making the trip to the original, Toups South is located just west of downtown and serves delicious things like fried chicken and goat tamales, along with many of the Meatery’s greatest hits as well.
Carnivore-friendly menu of Cajun dishes plus cocktail pitchers in a rustic space with a patio.

This was our second time to eat at Toups Meatery. We showed up without a reservation so the host whipped out a two top for us. The cocktails were great, especially the Poblano Escobar. The meat board had several amazing components. I could live on the cracklins, but they’d probably kill me. My wife had the venison. I had the pork chops. The picture is blurry, but the again so am I after trying to finish it. Everything was perfect. We don’t come to New Orleans often enough, but next time we do, we’ll be back again.

Enjoyed great brunch/lunch in New Orleans at Toups’ on Saturday. Got the marinated crab claws in chili vinaigrette with pickled pineapple – excellent. Cocktail “Something about Cherry” – cherry rye, pear shrub, apple cider – nice & seasonal. Dirty Rice is the real deal and meaty with balanced cajun spice. The Toups’ burger is a seriously superior creation of Chef Isaac of wagyu beef with wonderfully unique pickled squash, cheddar, bacon and creole aioli. This is a higher strata of burger class with each component able to be savored and married. We will be remembering this one and returning. Also really enjoyed opportunity to meet Chef Isaac and talk about the food. Looking forward to returning soon for dinner for the variety of cajun carnivory offerings.

Can’t recommend this place enough. We shared a beautiful New Year’s Eve dinner on the patio. We ate several of the dishes that chef Toups is known for. Our service was impeccable and personable. The food was interesting and delicious. Truly a unique experience. The lamb neck was awesome. The cornbread as well. I have to say the desserts were my favorite part just because I’m a sweets person. But there wasn’t a weak spot. Loved all of it.

Delicious food! We got takeout and omg! The Cuban sandwich was amazing – soft bread, flavorful meat, 10/10! The fried fish sandwich was perfectly fried with delicious tartar sauce. Pickle plate was so unique and a bit spicy. Particularly loved the green beans, onions, and beets. Finally, the broccoli Caesar was phenomenal. Some of the best dressing ever. Would go back for sure!

Started with the marinated crab claws and Irish coffees which were amazing! Different take with the marinated crab claws, not the typical butter spice. Very savory and pickled marinade. Awesome. Venison with fried eggs and biscuits/gravy and fried catfish served over perfect collard greens with two poached eggs cover with a tiny sauce that complimented the collard greens and fish perfectly! Don’t skip this laid back, delicious eatery!

Come with an empty belly or a lot of friends. The three bone porkchop was cooked and seasoned perfectly, but was enough for two or three people to share especially if you also order the meat platter appetizer. The cracklins were better than the rillons. We were there at 8PM on a Friday evening and were one of three tables. Our server (who may have been the owner ? ) gave off New York vibes; rushed, distracted, efficient.

Very delicious food. Our server suggested the turkey necks and the venison and both were flawless. We splitted in three and were super satisfied. The only thing that could improve was the bathroom, which wasn’t the cleanest Ive ever been.

OMG! Amazing! I ordered the pork chop & my date ordered the steak. Best pork chop that I’ve ever had. The steak was perfect. One of our tour guides recommended Toups (thanks DJ) and I’m thankful that he did. Hadley was our server and she was amazing as well. Don’t take my word for it , experience it yourself!!!
