Finally tried the negitoro bowl at Totoya and WOW. The tuna was incredibly fresh and literally melts in your mouth. The texture was so smooth and buttery, and the roe added the perfect pop of flavor in every bite.

The portion was generous and the balance of rice, green onions, and seaweed made everything come together perfectly. They also served it with miso soup and an egg on the side which made the whole meal feel complete.

What really stood out though was the customer service. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but the staff were so friendly and kept checking in on me to make sure I was okay. You can tell they really care about their customers.

The wait was absolutely worth it. If you love fresh tuna and simple flavors done right, the negitoro bowl here is definitely a must try.

So happy they opened a third location for us Westside sushi lovers! We’ve now tried all three, including Kaimuki and Ala Moana, and this newest spot does not disappoint. Parking in the shopping center can get busy, but there’s a three-level structure, so you’ll find a stall with a short walk.

The restaurant sits right in front in a cute yet surprisingly spacious room. The decor gives you instant Japan vibes, clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. They opened at 5pm and we got there around 5:30. The line moved steadily; we waited about 20–30 minutes. The hostess was super efficient and came out to take everyone’s orders while we were in line, which made things smoother. Once seated, we waited maybe another 10 minutes for our food.

We both ordered the Tokujo bowls, upgraded to salmon miso soup, added extra uni (because obviously), and topped it off with egg yolk shoyu. And yes! photos and videos were mandatory because this bowl is a masterpiece. Absolute mouth-watering perfection. Mix everything together, scoop it into the nori, wrap it up, and take that bite… OMG.

The balance of negitoro, salmon roe, snow crab, uni, and perfectly seasoned white rice was chef’s kiss. Generous portions without being overwhelming, just enough to leave you fully satisfied and already planning your next visit.

Pro tip: grab the stamp card. One stamp per bowl, and once you hit 10, you get $15 off your next bill. Worth it.

The staff was friendly and welcoming from start to finish. Thank you, Totoya, for bringing this goodness to paradise. And honestly… it wouldn’t hurt to open a fourth location… maybe Kapolei next?

This is one of the best food I’ve ever had. Quality and presentation were great, the fish was so fresh, and the atmosphere was so light. We went for dinner and there was already a line. The restaurant itself is small, so there will be a wait. They also take your orders before you sit so that you can avoid a longer wait time. It’s quite expensive, but definitely worth it. Will go back soon!

I got the Original Negitoro bowl with fresh egg yolk. Also got the salmon miso soup. It was busy since it was a Saturday, but the staff were great. The server offered the take our ordered while we waited to be seated so we got our food pretty quickly 🙂

Small restaurant but seriously good seafood bowls. The fish was very fresh and the portions were generous. I tried the negitoro bowl with ikura and it was excellent.

Great quality for the price and the staff were super nice. I’d definitely recommend this place!

We’ve been to the other location, but came to the Aiea restaurant for the first time last week. They welcomed us like we were regulars who eat there every day lol I loved that.

Totoya is one of the few places in Hawaii that actually feels like being back in Japan. The fish is always super fresh, prices are reasonable, and the vibe is simple and authentic. Definitely one of my go-to sushi spots. Also: don’t forget your stamp card!!!
