I was on Gasparilla Island to show my watercolor paintings at the Art On Park Avenue fine art show. My husband stopped over at the Tortuga Mexican Street Cuisine for lunch. He returned to the show with a steak bowl and two tamales (one chicken and one pork). He requested both the mild (green) and hot (red) sauces for the food. Everything was AMAZING! the sauces had just the right amount of Zing for their heat levels and both added a nice and unique flavor to each food item. We will definitely return to the Tortuga!

Never had Mexican street food before and it was delicious. I had the mild ground beef tacos with freshly made guacamole on soft flour tortillas.

David, the owner, is awesome!!! He is very friendly and always enjoy talking with him! I went to his food truck in Venice at the farmers market for first time several years ago. His pork tamales are awesome! Every time I was in the area I would take the time to go there. He is at his current location and I still make the effort to go when I’m in the area! Still love the tamales and tried the jalapeño and black beans for first time… I think they are my new favorite!!! Thank you for making us feel special when we stop by!!! Tennessee isn’t that far from here!

Never disappointing, followed his truck from the Venice Farmers Market to his stand alone place in Boca Grande! When visiting in Venice, we always sought him out for our morning breakfast, miss him at Farmers Market in Venice, but found him in Boca Grande, tradition continues! The front is painted like a food truck, very appealing! David the owner is awesome, very accommodating in what and how you order! Everything is fresh and authentic! Beyond great tamales, guacamole etc etc! Always takes the time to chat with us and make us feel special! Love from Central Florida and West Tennessee!

It is on the right side of the Pink Pony, in the back. Very hard to find, just a tiny little sign. Two very small tacos for $10, but did not even have cheese on them! It would have helped to throw in a few chips to go with it. The mild green sauce was very spicy. Very limited outdoor seating, like two benches.
