From all the places I’ve bought barbaquoa from this place has the most amazing barbaquoa. The wait line at the drive thru did take a while, but it was worth it. The barbaquoa is delicious and the red salsa is soooooo spicy. The tortillas are soft and tasty. I’ve been coming here for years, and I’ve never gotten bad barbaquoa. They also have parrilladas, tacos, botanas and different kind of plates. You can get aguas frescas and drinks. They offer deliver aswell. If you don’t want to wait in line, you can get down to get your order inside. The ladies greet you with a big smile and make you feel welcome! If you like the salsa, they sell it in bigger portions for your convenience. Stop by and give it a try. You won’t regret it!

Absolutely hands down the best Barbacoa in town. Tortillas are delicious as well, they are always warm and have a great flavor. The drive-thru is very convenient. Staff is very friendly and quick to give you your order. We are always willing to drive 30 minutes to get here for the Barbacoa on the weekends. A worthwhile place to stop when in town for the weekend.

6•3•25 very impressed for the fajita plate and a drink no regrets I recomend this very well served for the cost. Got this for lunch I picked it up and left and didn’t know until I opened it and was very happy and shocked finally I got my fajita and not just veggies I hate when they do that. And they don’t. Thank you Hdz tortilleria. Staff always busy and friendly yet overwhelmed with lots of customers.

10•9•24 The only reason for the bad score is because of breakfast tacos, mon-Fri. I went to drive thru for 2 breakfast tacos, and let me tell you, they were the worst $6.00 I paid for. The flour tortillas were hard and not soft, and the filling well one was potato and egg, and they had chunks of potatoes and tortilla was hard. So yea, do the math even if they reheat, which I shouldn’t because I got them to eat them as soon as I bought them right, and they’re just awful. The chorizo and egg were worse as if it had water on chorizo, no flavor, and hard tortilla. Was it worth the $2.75 a taco? NO! but I really don’t recommend it. I can imagine if I ordered the ones more priceyer like the tortilla with barbacoa I had ordered the bacon and egg and boy was it greasy and tortilla becomes wet and soggy I mean, idk who makes them, but they need to be on ck.
Now, as far as on Sundays, Barbacoa is Good ill give them 4☆ for that with the corn tortillas they make is good, but all that fast mon-fri breakfast tacos it is a hard Pass. This wasn’t the 1st time last time they were greasy. My bag was greasy for the bacon and egg tacos. I was just disappointed and was the waist of money because I had to cut all the hard pieces of the flour tortillas, and it is smaller than the actual breakfast flour tortilla Taco tortilla be.

I stopped by Tortilleria Hernandez and tried the fajita plate—definitely a great choice. I could tell others thought so too since it was a bit packed with everyone buying their lunch plates. The meat was tender and well-seasoned, and everything tasted fresh. You can tell they take pride in their food. From the moment you entered they acknowledge you. I liked it a lot and will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Best and most clean Barbacoa available in Brownsville, Texas. The staff are very friendly and professional. Lately I have seen they have added other items such as Pan Dulce and other dishes. I normally go only on the weekends for Barbacoa and menudo. I noticed that they are now selling carnitas (they didnt before) so I will be checking that out for sure. But this place is top tier and a favorite among my family and some friends .

Avoid this racist place if you’re not latino/hispanic!!! My friend (white) and I (Asian) were refused service at the drive through. The workers said “nothing for you” at the drive thru during open restaurant hours. Very disappointing and terrible way to run a business.

Carnitas were delicious and high quality. The Tortillas de maiz from here are the best in town. Spent about $27 for 1 pound of carnitas, 1 dozen of tamales, and an extra pack of tortillas.
