I love it here
The food was absolutely delicious. I’ve already been recommending them to everyone I speak with. On my first visit, everything was fantastic, and when I ordered again, I tried the carnitas tacos and the flautas, both were outstanding. The red sauce in particular is incredible; I genuinely can’t get enough of it.
If you’re in Poughkeepsie, this spot is definitely worth trying. Highly recommend!
I saw a positive review of this place on Instagram and stopped in the last time I was going through Poughkeepsie. The menu looked like a typical taqueria— nothing special, just the same options and ingredients you see everywhere else. I decided on tacos and asked the guy (the owner, I believe) which pork option he would recommend. He said they were both good. I got two al pastor tacos and one carnitas.
It took a while, as they were pretty busy, and there were only three people working, but the food arrived and looked great. I ate the carnitas first… it was amazing! Again, according to the ingredient list, it was the same carnitas taco I’ve had a hundred times a lot of places. But it was so much better than anywhere else. I’m not sure if it was the quality of the pork, the way it was cooked, or the spices they used, but the flavor was perfect. That taco was a joy to eat! The al pastor was really good too, but more obviously spice heavy, which leads me to believe that the way they cook the pork is the key. They served them with some cooked onion slices— not caramelized, just cooked melt in your mouth soft with a touch of sweetness— that were great added to the tacos or eaten on the side.
My only regret was not getting two carnitas and one al pastor, but it’s a small regret. I got a pound of their fresh corn tortillas to go and made a much inferior taco at home that was actually much better than it had any right to be due to the quality of the tortilla.
I HIGHLY recommend this place.
The food was delicious, especially the tortillas, but the wait really took away from the experience. We had to check on our order more than 6 times, and nothing was offered to make up for the delay — no drink, apology, no partial refund. We also received pico de gallo instead of the chips and guac we originally ordered.
Overall, the food is good, but unfortunately the service and wait weren’t worth it.
