Highlight: the potstickers we got a second round of them
Dragon roll and Schott’s roll were fantastic, I’d order the same thing next time
Great sushi, great chill atmosphere, and great service! Will definitely be back!
Toro Sushi in Carmel delivered a dining experience that checked every box—fresh flavors, beautiful presentation, and genuinely warm service.
We started with the Garlic Edamame, which came steaming hot and packed with bold, savory flavor. The Tempura followed—crispy, golden, and remarkably light. The batter didn’t overwhelm the ingredients, which is rare and appreciated.
The Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna Cobb was a showstopper. Perfectly seared tuna over a bed of fresh greens, avocado, and a sesame vinaigrette that brought it all together. It was one of those dishes you think about long after the meal.
For sushi, each roll impressed:
The California Roll was clean and well-balanced.
The Rainbow Roll added a fresh layer of variety with beautifully sliced fish.
Shortt’s Crunch Roll had an addictive texture and just the right spice.
The Main Squeeze Roll was unique—bright citrus notes and a subtle sweetness made it unforgettable.
The vibe inside Toro is relaxed yet polished, with spotless tables and friendly, attentive staff. Every dish came out looking as good as it tasted. Whether you’re a sushi fan or just exploring, Toro is a must-visit in Carmel.
Highly recommend. Five stars all the way.
Geisha Roll: A vegetarian option, the flavors of the dish were fine but I felt it was missing something to give it that wow factor. The sweet potato chips on top weren’t crispy which I was excited about.
Service: Great service. Really friendly staff!
Atmosphere: They have indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating space is limited but it has beautiful natural light coming in from outside.
Accessibility: yes but no button however you are greeted by the host who is able to open the door for you.
We ordered the Spider Roll, Edamame, Snow Angel Nigori, Teriyaki Chicken, and the Seared Salmon Roll—each dish was crafted to perfection. The Spider Roll was crispy and flavorful, the Teriyaki Chicken was tender and well-seasoned, and the Seared Salmon Roll simply melted in our mouths. The Snow Angel Nigori sake was the perfect complement, offering a smooth, slightly sweet finish to our meal.
The customer service was impeccable, with James providing exceptional care and attention throughout the evening. He was friendly, attentive, and ensured we had everything we needed.
We chose to sit outside, and it was a fantastic decision. The heaters kept us warm, and the soft glow from the table lamps created an intimate and cozy atmosphere—perfect for a date night.
This restaurant truly knows how to combine great food, excellent service, and a welcoming ambiance. We can’t wait to return!
