Brad! Thank you for running us down with our credit cards top notch service!

Highlight: the potstickers we got a second round of them

Dragon roll and Schott’s roll were fantastic, I’d order the same thing next time

I had the teriyaki chicken which was very tasty, with their tempura which was nice and light as well as some sushi rolls. Fast and friendly service. Very nice place to go to when in Carmel.

This place had really great food! My family and I are vegetarian, and we were so happy to find so many delicious options on the menu. We had the sushi, which was excellent. Karle served us, and she was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our visit. The restaurant itself is beautiful—I absolutely loved the decorations. Overall, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend coming here!

A Standout Sushi Experience at Toro in Carmel
Toro Sushi in Carmel delivered a dining experience that checked every box—fresh flavors, beautiful presentation, and genuinely warm service.

We started with the Garlic Edamame, which came steaming hot and packed with bold, savory flavor. The Tempura followed—crispy, golden, and remarkably light. The batter didn’t overwhelm the ingredients, which is rare and appreciated.

The Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna Cobb was a showstopper. Perfectly seared tuna over a bed of fresh greens, avocado, and a sesame vinaigrette that brought it all together. It was one of those dishes you think about long after the meal.

For sushi, each roll impressed:

The California Roll was clean and well-balanced.

The Rainbow Roll added a fresh layer of variety with beautifully sliced fish.

Shortt’s Crunch Roll had an addictive texture and just the right spice.

The Main Squeeze Roll was unique—bright citrus notes and a subtle sweetness made it unforgettable.

The vibe inside Toro is relaxed yet polished, with spotless tables and friendly, attentive staff. Every dish came out looking as good as it tasted. Whether you’re a sushi fan or just exploring, Toro is a must-visit in Carmel.

Highly recommend. Five stars all the way.

Miso soup: it was okay, not very flavorful, it didn’t have any seaweed in it. The green onions were definitely fresh and was the most flavorful part of this watered down dish.

Geisha Roll: A vegetarian option, the flavors of the dish were fine but I felt it was missing something to give it that wow factor. The sweet potato chips on top weren’t crispy which I was excited about.

Service: Great service. Really friendly staff!

Atmosphere: They have indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating space is limited but it has beautiful natural light coming in from outside.

Accessibility: yes but no button however you are greeted by the host who is able to open the door for you.

Our favorite spot in Carmel! It all started with the great service from Jaelynn. She was great with our kids, made great recommendations, just all around a knowledgeable and very welcoming person. Toro has a lot of dishes between $10-30, so if you’re trying to have an excellent experience without a huge check, this is the place. Ambiance was excellent overall, the restaurant is split into three different seating areas, each with their own vibe.

So we went on FB to get recommendations for our stay in the area from Camarillo. Toro was recommended, and after doing our research. Toro did not disappoint, everything we had was delicious and fresh. Our server was Stephanie and she was on point the whole night. Now we have a place for sushi when we’re in the area. Everyone on staff was so awesome. Can’t wait to come back.. Thanks for a great evening…

Food, service, and atmosphere were all great. I came with my family and don’t even enjoy Japanese food, but the teriyaki chicken was a treat. I would not get the sosumu cucumber salad and instead opt for the house salad. The price per person is completely unreasonable though, even for a fancy restaurant in California.

We had an incredible dining experience at this sushi spot! From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations.

We ordered the Spider Roll, Edamame, Snow Angel Nigori, Teriyaki Chicken, and the Seared Salmon Roll—each dish was crafted to perfection. The Spider Roll was crispy and flavorful, the Teriyaki Chicken was tender and well-seasoned, and the Seared Salmon Roll simply melted in our mouths. The Snow Angel Nigori sake was the perfect complement, offering a smooth, slightly sweet finish to our meal.

The customer service was impeccable, with James providing exceptional care and attention throughout the evening. He was friendly, attentive, and ensured we had everything we needed.

We chose to sit outside, and it was a fantastic decision. The heaters kept us warm, and the soft glow from the table lamps created an intimate and cozy atmosphere—perfect for a date night.

This restaurant truly knows how to combine great food, excellent service, and a welcoming ambiance. We can’t wait to return!

Small sushi restaurant with a great vibe. We had our dog with us so we sat outside under some heaters as it was a bit chilly out. The garlic edamame, although a simple dish, was very good and a great way to start the meal. I had the Carmel roll and the short rib for dinner. The roll was very good but the sake braised short rib was exceptional. They ran out of mashed potatoes so they prepared it with rice but it was still tasty and the amount of lobster meat was generous. The staff there were very accommodating and they offered our dog a bowl of water immediately. We eventually ordered her the salmon on the dog menu and were surprised by how big the serving was. Definitely would recommend for sushi and dog lovers.
