We kicked off with the house salad—nice and fresh with some roasted peppers that added a cool smoky kick. The veggies felt local and crisp, but it was a bit overdressed, so the dressing kinda took over, but still a nice salad to kick things off. The other salad was a Caesar salad and it was delicious with a few non Caesar things thrown in like carrots, peppers and onions.
First special was the surf and turf: a tender filet mignon with shrimp and scallops, served with a sherry cream risotto and some crisp veggies. The filet was super juicy, the shrimp cooked perfect and the risotto was just right—not too mushy. Total win! The other special was house-made shells pasta with five big prawns, broccoli, and asparagus in a pesto cream sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly—the prawns were plump, and the veggies still had some crunch. Only thing? Both dishes were a little under-seasoned for us. A sprinkle of salt and pepper fixed it, but a touch more flavor out of the gate would’ve been nice.
Our server, Billy, was awesome. Super friendly, got our orders spot-on, and even brought out a couple wine samples to help us pick. The wine list was decent but could use a boost—most reds were around 3.4–3.8 on Vivino. (we’ve found Vivino usually matches our tastes). Still, what we picked worked with the meal.
For the price, I’d say Torme’s a solid 4.5 stars—great food quality, especially those prawns and filet, and Billy’s service pushed it to a 5 for us. We’ll definitely keep Torme in the nicer Prescott restaurant rotation and be back again.
The service and atmosphere were also really well done. Service was welcoming and attentive without being overbearing or rushed. The atmosphere had a rustic feel – cozy, semi formal, not overcrowded. It was a little too dark for us, and some of the lights were flickering.
It’s all a bit nit picky, but for the price it should be nit picked. I’ll be back for sure.
Before the main courses arrived, we were treated to a a few slices of herb-infused bread accompanied by whipped cream cheese and shredded carrots for topping. This simple yet flavorful starter set a promising tone for the evening. For drinks, I sampled their seasonal Harvest cocktail, which was refreshing and suitably autumnal, while my we also enjoyed a robust local porter beer that paired well with the hearty dishes to come.
Our first course was the Harvest Salad, a vibrant mix of seasonal fruit, pickled golden beets, and figs finished with a tangy vinaigrette, pomegranate glaze, and whipped lemon ricotta. Though the combination of flavors was light and delightful, the salad could have benefitted from more quintessential “harvest” ingredients—think roasted butternut squash, pumpkin seeds, and/or roasted Brussels sprouts (instead of strawberries and blueberries, perhaps apples would’ve been a better fruit to use)—for added texture and fall-inspired depth. Also, the strawberries came with their stems intact, an inconvenient detail that detracted from an otherwise lovely presentation. Fortunately, the next two dishes more than made up for these minor shortcomings.
The Sage Seared Scallops were cooked to perfection—sweet, tender, and served atop a creamy lemon basil risotto with a rich sage brown butter. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Ravioli, filled with ground buffalo, sundried tomatoes, and veggies, offered bold flavors, though I found the pasta shell slightly too thick for my preference.
Service at Torme Restaurant was another highlight. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. However, when the check arrived, there was an unexpected credit card fee, even though I paid in cash. Additionally, one dish was charged at a higher price than the menu indicated. I chose not to make a fuss and left a generous tip because the service truly shone, but this billing discrepancy was a disappointing endnote. Still, with its charming setting, attentive service, and standout dishes—particularly the scallops—Torme Restaurant is well worth a visit for a cozy and intimate dining experience in Prescott.
Our great waiter was attentive and very familiar with the menu along with knowing the specials and finding out ingredients in certain dished as one of our party had food allergies.
Unfortunately, the food served on our evening out was semi-warm and disappointing. I had the ravioli appetizer and the baguettes served with it were stale and inedible. The meatballs were almost cold to the touch for both myself and my husband and our friends were unimpressed with the food which was embarrassing for us as we had suggested the restaurant based on the fact that the owners also own “El Gato Azul” where we always have a great meal.
One “saving grace”, the bread and cheese butter were amazing as was the house salad and home made dressing!
