They also kept asking if we needed more drink when we already had three total (four adults but only two will drink), which sounded pushy.
This is mini Japan right here in Honolulu
Every dish is better than the next – order lots of dishes to share so you can taste it all steak and chicken skewers were great to share and cucumbers delish!
Call ahead to make reservations- you will probably not get in without one! Uber if you can – limited parking ☀️ ️
The service was also terrible. The staff stopped taking our order halfway and made us wait before coming back. On top of that, they kept repeatedly asking if we wanted drinks, and the way they did it came across as rude and pushy.
Overall, I cannot recommend this place given both the food safety issues and the poor service.
Every dish I’ve ordered has suited my taste perfectly. Yakitori takes some time to prepare, so it’s best to order it early.
And since it’s an izakaya, drinks are a must! The mega-size drinks are a great deal, so I always end up ordering those lol
Make a reservation or you might not get a table. People either sit and drink for long periods of time.
Friendly staff and attentive. Yakitori takes some time but we’ll worth the wait.
They don’t let you order skewers unless you also order drinks, which was already a bit disappointing. For appetizers, we got edamame, cucumber, and oden. The cucumber tasted oddly like salted chicken, the edamame portion was tiny, and the oden was just okay.
The chicken and wagyu skewers were pretty good, and even though the chicken hearts weren’t cleaned well, I could overlook that. But the real issue was the chicken liver skewer — it came out still bleeding, which looked really off-putting. I asked the server to have it cooked a bit more, and they literally just torched it black with a flame gun. When it came back, it smelled completely burnt.
I told the server that cooking something through and burning it are two very different things, and asked if they could redo or remove the dish. The server’s attitude was quite rude — they said, “That’s how it’s supposed to be. Take it or leave it.”
Overall, really disappointing service and attitude. The food was hit or miss, and I wouldn’t come back.
