Was looking for a spot to take my wife for her bday and decided to give Torake a shot. So glad we did as it was totally worth it. We did the standard menu and were later told by the staff that it was the last day before the restaurant transitioned off of that menu. So glad we got to try it! Everything was exceptional with a special shout out to the bluefin akami and the uni toro handroll. Would absolutely come back again in the future to try out their new menu!

Hands down the best omakase experience in Vancouver! My wife booked bar seating well in advance, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which set the tone for the evening.
After choosing our tasting menu, the chef began preparing each course right in front of us. Every dish was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced in flavor. The sushi was exceptionally fresh, and some of the fattier cuts practically melted in my mouth.
We loved the entire experience — it easily surpassed my previous (and much more expensive) omakase meal elsewhere. This restaurant is a 100% recommendation from us, and we’ll definitely be returning in the future!

Torakes Omakase is such a hidden gem!!!!! The soy sauce pairing for each nigiri is thoughtfully done and complements the fish so well. The fish itself is incredibly fresh and each bite felt intentional and balanced. The appetizers were unique and stood out in the best way. Service was attentive and polished, truly on par with some of the pricier omakase options in Vancouver. I will absolutely return.

Absolutely loved the whole menu — every dish was thoughtful and well-balanced.
The sushi omakase was full of sincerity, and my favourites were the steamed egg and dessert — both were amazing.
I really appreciated that they could immediately adjust the dishes when I mentioned a food allergy — very attentive service.
The atmosphere was relaxed, allowing me to enjoy the food without pressure at sushi bar, and still have comfortable conversations.
It felt lively but not noisy, and the chef was focused and professional.
And they also prepare a little surprise for birthday celebration. Thanks a lot!
Looking forward to the next seasonal menu. ✨

Hanson and Vicky and the crew is phenomenal in delivering amazing service along with quality dishes. Me and my partner went here for our anniversary and had the premium omakase.
Will definitely come back for future events and highly recommend others to get the bar side table omakase

Everything here has been great, the premium omakase experience particularly stood out with its seasonal features. The mini don, otoro nigiri, foie gras nigiri, and tamago are particular highlights.
Talking to the chefs, they take particular care in the menu and drink selection and the unique sake selection reflects that

The service here is exceptionally warm and welcoming — you can really feel the staff’s genuine enthusiasm and attention to detail. The restaurant has a clean, modern interior design that feels both elegant and comfortable, creating a great atmosphere for dining. All the fish are in season and incredibly fresh, and every dish is beautifully prepared with flavors that are perfectly balanced — rich yet delicate, allowing the natural taste of the ingredients to shine. Both the à la carte menu and the omakase set offer excellent value for the quality and experience you get. It’s definitely a place worth coming back to each season, since the menu changes with the freshest seasonal ingredients and always feels new and exciting.

Excellent service. The server was really knowledgeable to explain the sake options. They were also attentive. Our tea cups always got filled before we needed to ask. Fresh ingredients. They have $88 essential omakase and $120 premium omakase, as well as a-la-carte options. This is good value for money for omakase. We ordered one $88 and one $120. Both are good but I think $88 is good enough for me. Portion was a bit small though.

Be sure to book a bar seat in advance. It is a pleasant pleasure to enjoy cooking while tasting delicious food. It is said that a more advanced taste menu will be launched in a while. Be sure to try it.

This is absolutely the top restaurant I would recommend in Vancouver, hands down! Amazing service, excellent food, and a very comfortable atmosphere. It was my first time trying omakase with a friend, and we chose the counter seats. The chef was incredibly kind, introducing each dish, chatting with us, and even preparing some “special” food for us to taste. Truly a one-of-a-kind dining experience! My only regret is forgetting to ask for the chef’s name, but he mentioned the menu will change in December—so we’ll be back then for sure!
