Tops Diner was an unexpected stop as we were in the area, this place was jumping on a Saturday night!

The wait for a regular table was 90 minutes, luckily we walked right up to the bar and people were leaving as we were coming. Once we sat down, we didn’t see anybody get up from the bar the entire duration we were there. Get there early!

Service was great and attentive. We got the spicy rigatoni with a chicken cutlet added, and the french dip sandwich. The rigatoni was good, a bit overcooked though. The sauce was delicious, and the chicken cutlet was basically a whole chicken. Usually, restaurants are skimpy with the protein, so that was appreciated.

The french dip was on delicious bread, but was more like a mix between a cheesesteak and french dip. There were fried onions and cheese, which normally it’s just a roast beef sandwich with au jus on the side. They were a bit skimpy on the meat. The side of fries and onions rings it came with were delicious though.

The prices are definitely steep, but portions are big. We would definitely come back if we were in the area again. The interior was beautiful with all the renovations they did.

This place is worth the hype. The service was great, the place is well run and there is enough staff to handle all the customers.

All the dishes we ordered were great.

The diner is neat and clean and the “hip hop” “east coast” decor is very nostalgic for those that grew up in the 90’s.

This diner themed restaurant is nice, new, and large. The portions are pretty generous. I really liked the fried. Be careful about up-charges. For example, when ordering a sandwich the server will suggest all of the extra cost sides rather than basic fries so you almost need to explicitly ask for the regular option. You should make a reservation in advance. Some of the sandwiches are better than others. There is parking.

I made a reservation through Open Table for a Birthday Dinner for my partner. The reservation system was simple and the service was very fast when we entered for check-in. The decor and atmosphere is very welcoming with a diverse playlist and retro modern design.

Our server Terry H, was very knowledgeable about the menu and started by providing us honest and personal review for recommendations. He was very patient and accommodating with my need for extra time.

The birthday man ordered the Oxtail Rasta Pasta with a Pina Colada, and I ordered the Navajo Chicken Pasta with the 24K Margarita.
The drinks were a great balance, delicious, and a great liquor portion. The Rasta Pasta was creamy and absolutely delicious. The Navajo chicken pasta was a great blend of creamy, fulfilling with chicken and battered shrimp, along with a mix of sweet peppers. The portion size was phenomenal, my partner finished his plate and was satiated which is a rare feat.

Amazing customer service – If you go Terry literally made our experience! Great ambiance, delicious food, and we would definitely go back.

It was our first time here, we love trying diners, so far 22.of them.
This diner has a very cool modern look, we went a week day and was packed, even a lot of people ahead us but it didn’t take too long to be seated.
They have booths and tables.
I have to say that the tables r tiny for 2 people and for the amount of things on top of it besides the food ordered. There was a moment when l felt kind of stressed trying to deal with all the dishes on the table plus the extra 4 glasses, bottle of olive oil, ketchup, salt and pepper shakers and jar with water.
We ordered appetizers plus a main course but not aware that the portions were big so we ended up leaving a lot of food on the table, which l hate.
We ordered Mac and cheese, was really good, spinach dip, not the best, lil bland, fried green tomatoes were good with a lil salad on the side that was delicious and a side of sweet potato fries that they were a lil burnt to my taste.
Main courses : fried jumbo shrimps and blackened grilled catfish.
The catfish would have been better without that sweet sticky glaze on top.
As l said, the place is cool ,clean and well cared but so loud that was kind of difficult to have a conversation across the table.
I agree with other feedbacks, it is overpriced.

Consistently ranked as one of the best diners in New Jersey and the country and deservedly so. The menu is extensive as one would expect, the food comes quickly, the coffee and water glasses are refilled often and the portions are large. The prices aren’t cheap but comparable to other Jersey diners. The dining room is large, clean and filled with energy. The space is retro chic but definitely modern due to the renovation so it’s fitting but definitely feels disneyfied because the ceilings are too tall the air circulation too good and the menus, booths and cutlery and utensils too new. Otherwise the food was good to great and well worth a visit. The fried chicken needed more seasoning. The sides needed more gravy or sauce but the chicken parm was great as were the triple decker sandwiches. We didn’t get the disco fries but they looked immense and tasty (seemed like every other table had them)!

The first time I had the privilege of tasting their food was during my brother in-law’s graduation.
I loved their fried rice, it was so packed with lots of protein and it was delicious.
I decided to go there again on my birthday and they did not disappoint.
