Went today with a friend. The food was awesome! The squid ink pasta was in their secret menu. I am allergic to dairy and they were very kind to make the grilled calarami and squid ink pasta butter & dairy free. Salad was awesome. Very refreshing. Mocktail was moderate. Risotto cannot be dairy free so I did not order it. But the buttery and creamy soup would be the whole point I guess!
Service was awesome.
A bit too dark inside and also be prepared for the loud chats. Normal in very popular restaurants right LOL.
Again I would definitely bring other friends and families here again and again in different occasions. My fav Italian in Chicago!

Topo Gigio Ristorante|Overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Environment ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lovely atmosphere with a classic Italian feel. The service was warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.

Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
• Risotto Frutti di Mare delle Marche ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent. The seafood was very fresh and flavorful.
The seasoning reminded me of a seafood soup I’ve had in Vegas, but this version was more refined and noticeably less salty. Very well balanced and delicious.
• Calamari alla Griglia ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fresh, tender, and perfectly cooked—not chewy or overdone at all. Clean and satisfying.
• Tiramisu ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Very good and enjoyable, though slightly less impressive than the savory dishes.

Will I come back?
Absolutely.

If you enjoy authentic Italian pasta with rich, flavorful sauces, you’ll love this place. The menu is wonderful, the atmosphere is cozy, and the wine selection is very good. 🙂
Will be great if you make your seating reservation.

Tried Topo Gigio after seeing it recommended everywhere, but it was a disappointment. The seafood risotto was the only good dish (4/5). Everything else — the spaghetti with meatballs, grilled calamari, conchiglie, and chicken with sausage — was very average or below. Prices are high for the quality, and service was minimal. Overall 2/5 — not worth the hype.

Mixed feelings. The male staff of our table might be having the worst day of his life, placing plates rudely every single time and very unhelpful. Other staffs are kind tho.

The starting bread was flavorless. The best way to have it is to dip it into the sauce of grilled calamari, which is the best dish we had tonight.
Both the pasta and risotto had good flavor and not that good texture. The pasta was not homemade and the rice was a bit too soft.

Overall doesn’t worth coming.

This is a SOLID Italian spot in Chicago. Small neighborhood place. Large servings. Very crowded and very LOUD. The people at the table behind us were literally shouting. But through all the chaos they managed to to provide great service. The food was solid. Tony (our family foodie) loves the conchiglie Alla sarda. I ordered the Apollo Fiorentina and husband ordered the Voldostana which has a wonderful creamy mushroom flavor. We also checked out the upstairs event space.

Atmosphere – Great
Service – Good
Food – Calamari was ok, took 45 minutes to get our main dishes. Chicken parm was ok, sided with spinach. But chicken bread was soggy, not a big fan of soggy breaded food. The taste was not bad but the texture wasn’t pleasant. Spaghetti meatballs was average, couldn’t go wrong with it. Would provably order that if I ever come again. But if I come again might be for the vibes and drinks mainly. A little disappointed with the food as I did have a friend of mine who spoke highly about this place. Keep in mind this was my experience! The best thing was probably the white wine lol

Exactly what we needed on a 20 degree day in the city.. stick to your ribs home made food.. Saul our server and Richard our busser were top notch attentive, knowledgeable as was all the staff . Warm bread and olive oil are served gratis.. then comes the decisions!!! Portions are huge so consider a share.. I had the grilled calamari in a lemon rosemary white wine sauce.. perfection!! Like best ever!! Also the minestrone house soup, a hearty portion beware it will fill you up!!
Pages of home made Italian dishes follow. I chose the special of home made( everything is) fettuccini scallops shrimp mini clams(no shells) and a small lobster tail in a light tomato lobster sauce!!!! Omg!!!! The Veal Saltimbocca was pounded perfectly and came with 3 fillets in a beef broth, we were stuffed and no room for the amazing array of desserts! Service was spot on and not hovering but anticipated our every need! Manager also awesome.. we will see you soon. After we finish our leftovers!!!!!

We recently had a rehearsal dinner in the private dining room upstairs at Topo Gigio. It was fantastic. The food was fantastic. The atmosphere was great. The staff was lovely and accommodating. They were easy to work with the entire night and with all planning.

Love the food here – really authentic Italian flavors. Wine is also good. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. My wine was literally tossed onto the table, and the server never made eye contact with us the entire meal. Whenever we needed something, it felt like we were bothering him. The server seemed much more friendly and engaged when speaking Italian with local guests, but as tourists we definitely felt unwelcome.
