The atmosphere was great. The food was okay. Nothing super amazing, but not horrible either. The kitchen was super backed up but our waitress was extremely attentive and very upbeat.
We all had a blast and will be back.
Our kids reserved the Two Bay Bundle Package, which is promoted as including:
Topgolf Play for 2.5 hours (rates vary by day), and
A Menu Package with a choice of a $150 or $220 food and beverage option.
The package description states that this includes a $150 prepaid food and beverage credit to be used on the day of the event. We paid a 25% deposit ($81.25) at the time of booking.
At the end of our visit, I paid the bill and left. After speaking with the kids and reviewing the confirmation emails more closely, it became clear that the wording of the package is very misleading. While it states that the $150 food and beverage spend is “included” in the package, the fine print notes that any unused portion is not refunded—which is not the issue here.
The problem is that the package is marketed as a “bundle,” implying that the food and beverage credit is included in the package price. In reality, it functions as a minimum spend requirement, not a bundled inclusion. This distinction is not clearly or transparently communicated.
I attempted to contact the Avon location directly but was unable to reach a manager due to the AI phone system. I replied to the original emails and eventually received a response. One representative, Eric, initially stated that I had been mischarged. However, I then received a call from another representative who stated that I had not been mischarged. This inconsistency only added to the confusion.
Ultimately, the issue is not the charge itself, but the inaccurate and misleading wording used to advertise the package. Labeling this as a “Bundle Package” falsely suggests that guests are receiving a true bundled value, when that is not the case.
I believe the package description should be revised to accurately reflect what is being offered so future guests are not similarly misled.
Unfortunately, despite having a great time—the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, and the food and beverages were good—I would not return. The experience was overshadowed by feeling misled by the package description and ultimately paying nearly $500 for something that was advertised as a bundle but did not function as one. Transparency matters, and this left a lasting negative impression.
My only complaint is the top golf nights that you pay extra for are lack luster. The one in Independence has colored lights on the course and feels like a party in the bays. This location is no different than during the day. Maybe the city made them dull it down? If not, it was a terrible decision. It is like the difference between cosmic bowling and regular bowling. It just isn’t the same. The ball dispensers are better here than independence.
My wife and I want to take up golfing and what better way to do that than to focus on your swing and learning the basics at a driving range, golf simulator, or a place like Top Golf with the games and technology. I played as a kid and my wife has zero experience. We booked training lessons 3 days prior to the appointment.
We showed up for our appointment and the staff at the front service desk was confused. Long story short, the person that taught lessons quit 4 weeks ago. Apparently we weren’t the only ones who showed up with an appointment for lessons that same day(4 weeks after they left). The manager took down our info for scheduling in the future and left it at an apology for corporate adjusting the website. Having been in customer service management for 15+ years, I was very disappointed with that response from management. This is the whole reason for the lower rating.
We decided to rent a bay to just to see what the Top Golf experience was like. They have heaters for winter and the seats had seat warmers, so the cold wasn’t a bother. Plenty of game options to play, a good food and drink menu. We ordered drinks and food to try them out and saw several other menu items we’d try in the future if we came back. Our server was awesome and provided great service and helpful recommendations.
Sadly, my wife not having any golf experience didn’t have the same level of fun I did. I had fun with my limited golf experience and the drinks and food were good.
Overall, not sure we’d go back. The management response to scheduled lessons with a trainer that left a month ago and having just scheduled the lesson 3 days ago was a huge put off. As a manager myself in customer service, a follow up to schedule in the future really isn’t doing right by the customer. Outside of that, it was a fairly good experience.
