Reviews
Except for the espresso martini, the cocktails I’ve tried have been great. My favorite is the Aperol Spritz. It’s a bit pricey, but the pour is generous. The male bartenders have been friendlier than the women, and there’s one in particular, Carlos, who is always there. You can tell he enjoys his job and does it very well.
It’s definitely a must-go spot in West Palm for drinks!
I went to Top of the Rox with my sister to celebrate New Year’s Eve. They advertised a dinner package where, if you booked dinner, your reservation also covered entry for the New Year’s Eve party. The cost was $100 per person with complimentary champagne, which set a certain level of expectation for both food and experience.
Unfortunately, I left with mixed feelings.
Food
The dinner itself was hit or miss.
I started with the roasted butternut squash soup, and honestly, it was very bad. It wasn’t smooth, you could still feel chunks of squash, and it lacked seasoning. It was so unpleasant that we had to send it back.
I substituted it with a black-eyed pea soup, which was much better — flavorful, satisfying, and with a bit of protein. That was a win.
For appetizers, I had Blue Point oysters. They tasted okay, but they didn’t feel very fresh. My sister ordered the shrimp cocktail, which I also tried, and that was actually very good — fresh and well-seasoned.
For my entrée, I ordered the Steak au Poivre (peppercorn-crusted filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and creamy cognac sauce). This was one of the highlights. My steak was cooked medium, well-seasoned, and very enjoyable.
Dessert was disappointing. I ordered the cheesecake, which tasted like it came straight from a box — not house-made at all. It felt basic and underwhelming. I also tried my sister’s crème brûlée. While it tasted fine, it wasn’t rich or indulgent and felt like it was made with very basic ingredients.
Experience & Organization
This is where things really fell apart.
When we were seated for dinner, we were under the impression that our table was ours for the night since dinner was tied to the New Year’s Eve party. However, around 9:30–10:00 PM, we were told we needed to get up and leave the table because it had been sold for the party to guests who paid for table service.
This was extremely confusing and frustrating, as this was never clearly stated in their flyer, invitation, or any prior communication. If we had known in advance that the dinner table would not be ours for the night, we would have planned differently.
Vibe
To be fair, once the party started, the music, dancing, and overall vibe were a solid 10/10. The DJ and atmosphere were great, and people were clearly having fun.
Final Ratings
Food: 6.5/10
Vibe & Music: 10/10
Overall Experience: 5/10
For the price point and the lack of clarity around seating, the experience did not fully meet expectations. Better communication and more consistency in the food would make a big difference.
*the paper napkins and plastic cups also threw me off during dinner.
I asked for a glass of wine but wasn’t familiar with either of the two options offered for rose wine. Without hesitation, Ivan kindly offered me a taste of both so I could choose what I genuinely enjoyed. That small but thoughtful gesture says everything about the level of care he brings to his work.
His knowledge didn’t stop there, he went above and beyond with food pairings and recommendations, explaining everything with confidence and passion. As the night went on, both my brother and I kept saying the same thing: Ivan made the experience. His professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail elevated the entire evening.
Service like this is rare. Ivan didn’t just serve drinks, he curated an experience, and we’ll absolutely be back because of him.
Thank you, Ivan!!!
Additionally, our entrées took nearly an hour to arrive. When the food did come out, multiple dishes were not prepared properly. Everyone who ordered meat received it undercooked, particularly the grouper and the steaks, which were served raw.
The outdoor seating situation was also uncomfortable. Despite the cold weather, we were refused additional heaters, and one of the heaters at our table was taken away and given to another table.
Lastly, the crème brûlée appeared to be reheated in a microwave rather than freshly prepared, which was disappointing.
Overall, the staff are GREAT PEOPLE but their overworked their kitchen isnt good.
ONLY COME FOR THE DRINKS AND VIBE NOT FOR FOOD!!!
Top of the Rox is an incredible spot for drinks and vibes, offering an experience that’s truly a cut above the rest. From the moment you step in, the atmosphere is captivating. The decor is stunning, meticulously designed to create an ambiance that’s both sophisticated and inviting. Every detail, from the lighting to the furnishings, contributes to a luxurious yet comfortable setting that makes you want to settle in and stay a while. Did I say they have swings at the bar?
The experience is further elevated by the music. The carefully curated soundtrack keeps you in a zone, providing the perfect backdrop for conversation, relaxation, or simply soaking in vibrant energy. Sound is kept loud enough to feel lively, but never overpowering.
What truly sets Top of the Rox apart, however, is the service. The service is excellent, friendly, and not pretentious.
All of the above makes Top of the Rox a must-visit rooftop experience.
Huge shoutout to our server Cieli, she was outstanding. Attentive, friendly, and made sure our experience was nothing short of perfect. The cocktails were top-notch, and the food? Easily 5-star restaurant quality. This spot nailed it across the board. We’ll definitely be back!
