Quick-serve window dishing out BBQ to enjoy in a rustic enclosed porch or at outdoor picnic tables.

2021:We came back for the gumbo, only to discover that the menu has been paired down and no longer carries their best tasting item. We were told that the son took over the place and reduced the menu. Please bring gumbo back!
I also did not like the loud music blasting out of the speakers.
Catfish was ok, a bit bland. Chicken was dry. Coleslaw was good.
2020:A lovely place to eat outdoors. There is a nice wind and the view is pleasant. The gumbo soup was excellent, above expectations. BBQ met expectations, pulled pork was the meat I enjoyed most.

2022: The ownership has changed and they’ve taken their best thing off the menu, the gumbo. We came back for the gumbo and were very disappointed that it’s gone. I had a combo plate again. The ribs were excellent but the chicken was a little dry and the brisket wasnt very interesting. Next time I’ll just get a rack of ribs.

We can now say we’ve been here and it was a great way to spend a part of the day. But I cannot in good conscience say it is a great BBQ joint. It’s also not a bad BBQ joint either but rather kinda in the middle. The meats were reheated not fresh cut and no smoke ring was detectable on any of the cuts. I tried the combo plate and got the brisket, pulled pork and ribs. My wife got the brisket, ribs and chicken. It is busy there and it took some time for our order to come up, “just under a half hour”. So honestly I was expecting it was due to waiting on the meats being finished from cooking. But alas this was not the case. You can easily see the photos the meat was not freshly cut, and no smoke rings. It was tender and delicious, just not smoky. I suspect the cornbread and beans are not homemade but again tasted fine and the cornbread was not dry. The coleslaw was different or our taste buds were way off. A mayo slaw and a powerful flavor of Thyme that overpowered everything. I’m not a mayo slaw person but I actualy liked this particular one because of the overwhelming flavors. However my wife could not eat it as to her it was “like eating a Christmas tree!”?
What makes this place is it’s location. While seating is out doors there is one area that is under a solid roof and windows. You have a nice view looking out towards the West River. Service was great and ordering was quick and easy, “though I would suggest increasing the voice level of the announces of peoples names for order pickup as it was difficult to her the names from time to time”.
Would we come here again? Sure, we both agree that it would be nice to try some of the other offerings as you really should not base a restaurant of of just one order, it could simply have been, “one of those days”. We all haven em right? 🙂

Very cool spot to grab a bite! Beautiful views and such a neat set up in terms of atmosphere and seating options. There’s uncovered, covered, and then indoors. It’s kind of like a tree house, you feel like you’re eating high up among nature. You woukdmt be able to tell this place is so unique from the road. Now the food – we got the brisket mac and cheese. I would highly recommend it. The brisket was cooked just right and didn’t have much fat on it. The mac was creamy and delicious. Go, go, go!

Ok food in a great location that overlooks a river.
This is a walk – up restaurant where you pay first and take your meal with you. The dining area overlooks a river and is very large. Dine outdoors on the deck or in a screened in porch.
They offer pit style BBQ which I found very mild and bland, lacking any defining ‘pit’ BBQ flavors such as smoke or char. This small restaurant indeed offers an expansive menu, so maybe BBQ isn’t yet an item that’s been perfected yet.
Overall we enjoyed our time eating here, but mostly for the ambiance.

Not the best BBQ I’ve had, but it is good enough to go back when in the area.
The staff was real friendly and the food was ready pretty quick.
The setting is appealing with picnic tables on a shady deck and some in an enclosed room. That was closed due to Covid-19.
They had run out of ribs and coleslaw and it was only 4pm. They offered one of the other side to go with my dinner plate. Those were ok too, not bad, but just ok. I chose double beans and a small piece of cornbread comes with the meal.
Sorry for the partially eaten food in the pic. I thought to take it after starting to eat.

Well we had come expecting top of the hill grill with so many positive reviews instead we showed up with a food cart serving “smoked bbq”…. which unfortunately wasn’t smokey and not the greatest quality and they served legit b&m beans like they could have at least doctored them up with spices onions and even bacon lol
Ribs were pretty fatty and burnt ends were not that tasty
Unfortunately it was a bust for us
Just outside seating with dirty old vinyl table clothes( I can say the view was good) and no access to bathrooms
Hopefully they update their information soon.

The view is beautiful. The outdoor covered and uncovered tables are well appointed. The food is yummy. Not a fan of the stale cornbread. Nice eclectic crowd. Friendly.

The food tasted great, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Only thing I would’ve liked was for both halves of the baked potato and a slightly larger portion of cornbread.

Top of the Hill Grill is an awesome roadside barbecue joint that can’t be missed if you find yourself near Brattleboro, Vermont. Literally perched at the top of a formidable hill, the outdoor dining area is an expansive deck built into the rock, offering terrific views. A timber framed indoor dining area with the same amazing view is also available for the winter time. Above all, it’s friendly folks serving tasty barbecue, with plenty of options for vegetarians.
