Top Hat Deli is an absolute GEM for breakfast or lunch. I usually roll in for breakfast (because let’s be honest… breakfast food just hits different), and it never disappoints. I’ve been here multiple times and somehow it gets better every single visit.
There’s always something new and exciting on the menu, which makes it very dangerous for someone like me who wants to try everything. On my last trip, I ordered the omelette chili special — and WOW. It was insanely good. Also… absolutely massive. I’m not exaggerating when I say you might want to split it with someone unless you’re training for a competitive eating contest. It was super filling but 100% worth every bite.
Whether you’re going for breakfast or lunch, you really can’t go wrong here. The vibe honestly reminds me of the classic spots back in New York — big portions, bold flavors, no nonsense, just really good food.
If you’re hungry and debating where to go… this is your sign.

Excellent NY deli. We had pizza bagels, pastrami sandwich, a cocktail and a brookie (brownie/cookie). Great stuff! Food was brought to table exceptionally fast. Check out the size of the brookie – it may have been a half pound! Good thing that we arrived early for lunch because the place was packed by 12:15pm. Would definitely eat here again.

We were in town for a wedding and just looking for a place near the hotel to grab lunch. I had no idea how much fate had smiled upon us when we found Top Hat just down the street. It was spectacular. We ended up eating breakfast and/or lunch or getting takeout there every day until we went home. The Classic was delicious. I needed a nap after it. They make their own pastrami, corned beef, and lox! Nova lox sandwich, excellent. Avocado toast, delicious. Meat omelet, OMG I needed another nap after that. Get some cookies to go because you’ll probably be too full at the end of your meal and you’ll wish you had them later after they’re closed. (Chunky monkey, red velvet, bookies, all great.) If I die tomorrow, my one regret in life will be not getting their amazing chocolate cake while I had the chance. It feeds 6 people btw (no, seriously).
Aside from the great food, what truly made the experience(s) so outstanding was the exceptional service. The staff were all so happy and friendly and welcoming that it was a much needed escape from the outside world. Their mantra, which is conspicuously displayed throughout the restaurant, is “be nice”. They certainly were. They treated us like family. On our last day there (which I think was our 6th meal there in 4 days) they all came out to sing a jubilant thank you to us. (The girls were in tears.) Thank you Julio, Tice, Daryl, and the rest of the amazing team at Top Hat. This was the highlight of our trip! (Nobody tell the bride, please.) Hopefully I find an excuse to be in Fort Lauderdale again soon.

Your favorite Breakfast and lunch options are on the menu here and Breakfast is served until closing at Three PM. The challah French toast is the best I ever had. Crisp creamy and perfectly served with granola and berries. Highly recommend as a must visit eatery. Fantastic waitstaff as well. This is our top breakfast joint in town, service is super friendly, the menu short and easy, the food delicious and very consistent. My favorites are: grand slam, breakfast sandwich, chili omelet (Sundays only), veg medley. They have a deli with NY style meats and plenty of cakes and cookies to choose from.

Had a delicious sandwich at Top Hat Deli—sourdough, turkey, and provolone cheese. The bread was fresh and perfectly toasted, the turkey flavorful, and the provolone added just the right touch of creaminess. Simple, satisfying, and exactly what I wanted!
