Always a wonderful experience here. Food is made to order and always correct. The ice cream is thick. Open year round but closed on Tuesdays. Free local delivery as well.

Dream come true place for my lactose intolerant husband as they can make every shake lactose free. And their shakes are delicious. Highly recommend the peanut butter and the pumpkin pie shakes. This gem would be my go-to place even in a big city, but it’s even more special to find in a small town. Would love to see them offer veggie burgers. 🙂

Idk if they still have their challenge, but my advice is to immediately remove the tootsie rolls from the ice cream and let them warm up while you eat the rest of the food. It’s basically impossible to eat 4 frozen tootsie rolls quickly.

Absolutely great experience. My first time there, and was happy to not be rushed to order. Man at the window had informed me of not having enough product, but made up for it with a bit extra strawberries in my shake. I will absolutely go back again. Plus the additional Tootsie Roll on top of the shake is incredibly cool and unique.

The food was good and fairly priced. This is not really a quick place to eat though. The place was pretty empty when I first got there and it took a lot longer than you would expect for a single cheese burger. I would go back though.

A old time small town ice cream place..It will take a while if you order food to get it but It’s worth the wait. I made the mistake of ordering a double cheeseburger..this thing was enormous !! The banana shake was great. I need to come back and try a few more things soon.

So on my way from Independence to Grinnell I said “NO” to my GPS three times and went a direction that was “similar ETA.” Thank goodness, that took me right by Tootsies! On a cold February day I was surprised to find it open with friendly smiling attendents ready to make my favorite! Raspberry Malt! The only bad thing about it was I found the bottom of the cup way too fast! Thanks tootsies!

I’ve not eaten here, I just come for the ice cream. Everything I’ve gotten has been great. The time it takes just for the ice cream is very long but I’m not usually in a hurry. I do see some delicious looking orders go by as I wait, may have to try food sometime. None of the staff look like they enjoy their job, that would make a huge difference in the service.
