Absolutely love Tony’s, vibes are immaculate. Came in on a Wednesday and as busy as they were still got fast and friendly service as always. Shout out Aly, favorite bartender by far!

First time in Athens, we were told this is the place to go. Had my first Hot Nut shot (highly recommend)

My wife went to school at Ohio University… and we were in town with 5 other friends for four days enjoying the local roads (on our motorcycles) and enjoying the town every afternoon and evening. Tony’s was our absolute favorite. A very welcoming local bar with great bartenders and great drink choices at great prices. We spent a lot of time there over the four days and played a lot of darts while we were at it.
Definitely going to be repeat customers!

I’m 23 years old and went to this bar expecting to have a good time. They let me in at the door, so clearly, they didn’t have an issue with my age then. However, when I went to order a drink—just water, by the way—they refused to serve me, claiming I needed to show ID again for water. Yes, water.
Out of all the bars in Athens, this was the only one that decided, for some unknown reason, that I wasn’t actually 23. Despite having been let in, they kicked me out without any legitimate explanation.
If you’re looking for an inconsistent and frustrating experience, this is the place. If not, there are plenty of other bars in Athens that don’t make you feel unwelcome for no reason.

My male group members are able to get drinks with practically no problem but when I or another one of my female friends go to the bar to order we wait for at least double the amount of time or are just blatantly ignored in favor of male patrons. Specifically by one particular bartender

Tonight, I experienced blatant racism from the bartender at this bar. When I first approached to place an order, she rudely told me to wait for sex seconds and said if I was just there for water, I could serve myself and walked away immediately. I waited for nearly another 10 minutes, and when she finally returned, I made it clear I was not there for water—I wanted to order a beer. Her response? She claimed I wasn’t in the line, even though there was no line, and everyone else was placing orders where they stood, without issue. When I asked her where this so-called line was, she dismissed me again and walked off. I’m so pissed off and frustrated, I followed her to the other side of bar she walked off and repeatedly said I wanted to order a beer before she reluctantly took my order. I paid the same price as everyone else but the treatment I received was completely different – her behavior was completely discriminatory and disrespectful and it’s clear to me she was being racist. For context, I’m Asian. I and my friends are only Asian guys at this bar tonight. This kind of treatment is unacceptable.

The atmosphere is friendly. The bartenders are nice and the other patrons usually are too. I did go in the summer months though, so they were mostly townies. The drinks are a good price and they have a great selection of spirits. They have live music sometimes that’s usually very good.

Glad to see Tony’s is still around. It is always on my list of places to go when in town.

very rude staff. i love going there for the drinks but it is very unfortunate having to deal with staff that have no respect. i understand trying to deal with underage people at a college bar but they handle this with NO grace or respect. disgusting behavior. can’t even order a drink as a 21+ year old without being yelled at by the bartenders. ridiculous
