It is the Tony’s you remember! Opened in the early ’60s, the atmosphere, menu, and flavor is solid.

That milkshke- Real!

Sloppy steak with mushrooms and pizza cheese: be prepared to take some home.

Friendly, too.

Yum.

My husband and I recently moved to saginaw. This morning my husband and I decided we would like to try a new restaurant that was located in town so we found and visited this community known take-out restaurant. We had just picked up a couple small coffees at the 7 eleven acrossed the road from the restaurant then headed over and had just walked inside the enterance when we were first greeted and really it was hardly any type of greeting,or way to greet any customer in any manner because at the very beginning before we had even sat at our table the greeter and servor had immediately responded with a very hostile and unbelievably rude attitude. My husband and I both had just picked up a few more gifts for our daughter and orher family members and had chosen to bring our bags and items inside with us, this was only happening because we currently do not have a real reliable vehicle at this time and were awaiting on my sister in-law to come and pick us up to take us back to the family home for more christmas events to carry on through out our day as we had planned many times in the past years prior. I am uncertain if the man who was to serve us had already been having a difficult day so early on in the morning or if he had just immediately and wrongfully judged us and then chose to rudely approach and insult me while my husband had went to use the restroom. He had insinuated that we were there to actually order and eat breakfast as we had already planned and also scolded me as if I am beneath him somehow and then eagerly informed me that we were not alloud to bring any outside beverages inside and then told me that we were to leave out the door with our drinks. I could not believe how rude and insulting the man had been and embarrassing he had just treated me. My husband hadnt even came back to our table after leaving to use the restroom yet. The other customers had been noticing and over hearing all of these events taking place as well. I was and still am humiliated by a man who did not know a thing about me or my husband and had rudely assumed that we were poor and apparently misfortunate lower class citizens. I have never in y life been so insulted. This has been absolutely the worst dining experience my husband and myself have ever attended and been to. I absolutely hope that whoever owns this restaurant to handle and accurately deal with there employee before more people choose to stop going n or even attempt to try this takeout service.

This place has gone down hill big time.
Our group was 3 people and they were pretty dead.
Two of us had burger. They were supposed to be half pound… no way that was half pound.
They were also brunt as hell.
Didn’t get the cheese on it I was supposed too.
Tge bacon was brunt as well.
Order a side of breaded mushrooms… I get 6…SIX tiny little mushrooms. WTH
My brother order wings and mashed potatoes. The Wings were over done, the mash potatoes were not mashed, and it took another 30 mins of constant asking to get the ranch for tge wings.

It took 20 mins of asking just for a drink refill.

Not worth it here anymore.

Many better resturants around.

Worst food we ate. Not worth the money.

Wow I don’t get all the bad reviews. I understand there’s a few imperfections like they may hire new waitresses which one was nice and new. She has dark hair and Italian looking..she kind of reminds me of a friend I have.

I ordered a pizza and they forgot to put the high stand out first but they did get it to me after it was placed to me on a oven pizza pan but besides things like this, I don’t see a real problem eating here.

I went two times two days in a row so a place has to be pretty damn good if I do even that. I don’t go to a place 2 days in a row most times. The meatball sandwich sold me. I liked how it was done like a meatball cake on scali bread and the next day I got a 16 inch cheese. The only imperfection maybe was the crust didn’t have as much a crisp to it but the dough is still delicious and everything they have is so that can even be overlooked. At least it wasn’t raw but it remained like a biscuity whitish buttery kind of texture. It complimented the pizza fine. The sauce and cheese were perfect and that alone made up for it.

A customer asked for a southern style bisquit and the owner said he didn’t know what that was, I found that so funny on the customer and the owners behalf that one would ask that there and the response the owner gave. And I thought their dough sort of tasted like that too in a way in pizza form yet it wasn’t a bisquit or cracker crust.

At the very least, they offer a lot of things here, I was surprised a true italian restaurant actually offered both breakfast and Mexican food too. Never seen that in my life going anywhere yet it’s here in Saginaw. And normally if a place offered tacos with pizza or pasta, the quality didnt taste as good maybe ok.

To those haters, I would say that maybe you’re being too hard on them here. And another that made me laugh is that patrons were supposedly cussing up a storm and acting ghetto. Didn’t see that either. I’d comment on it if I did. It’s mostly nice older people in an older pretty nice neighborhood. In that area haven’t been bothered.

Ok end review…great food and I would trust the steak and cheese too even though I didn’t get it here. If i had to guess, it’s put in a roll . They might put different stuff in different bread for different sandwiches, that be pretty cool if they did. I don’t like as many michigan steak and cheeses but I’d trust this one to be good so that says something judging by the food I had here.

I tried the Belgian waffle topped with whip cream and strawberries. The strawberry purée that my waffle was covered with wasn’t good to me. It made my waffle super soggy and the whip cream looked like melted ice cream. My sausage and gravy was cold but the eggs were okay.

Last time, I ate at Tony’s 40 years ago. It was good to come back. I ordered the original steak sandwich grilled with mozzarella and mushrooms and the family size Sundae.

Ordered Chili Cheese fries and received this. They were dry as if they begrudgingly added half a scoop of chili.
The service was not great as when I ordered the fries, the cashier told me they “don’t do” chili cheese fries at this location. Her co-worker had to step in, which should’ve been a sign in itself in hindsight.
Husband couldn’t finish his Giant Steak Sandwich (which is a Tony’s signature) as it tasted old and reheated with bad texture and he didn’t eat his fries what-so-ever. $20 down the drain
I hope to see our Saginaw Tony’s restaurants take their food and service seriously in the future.

We came here with about 25 people with no warning and they handled it so well. (We should’ve decided where to eat and called before hand. Don’t be us!) Our waitress was a rockstar in taking our orders. The food portions were HUGE. Everything tasted great! Thank you to all the staff for their patience and our apologies if other customers were affected by us. We recommend anything at Tony’s!

My favorite Saginaw restaurant. I love going there every time I am in town. I always get the Giant Steak Sandwich with Pizza Cheese. The food is always good, and even though the staff was behind on orders (because they were so busy), they were friendly, attentive, and patient with customers. It was worth the wait for this Yooper traveler.
