I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet. We love it. GREAT food, strong drinks. Watch out for the drink for two, don’t get one for yourself. It’s right outside the metro stop. We come here before going to capital one arena, especially on hockey nights. The pics are from two visits. We don’t usually get two meals because it’s hard to finish. We are stuffed. One meal with soup and spring rolls is about perfect for two. I’m very surprised it doesn’t have more stars. Check it out.

I cannot believe I haven’t been here before and will definitely be back regularly. The food was so good – ordered two dishes recommended by the server, the sizzling beef/peppers and the seafood hot pot casserole w glass noodles. Beautiful space and excellent service as well. Also happy that they have cocktails. Was great for just me and my partner but they have plenty of large tables that seat 10 so I’ll be recommending this place for my next group dinner.

Very slow. Very poor quality. And service extremely rude, especially server ‘Alex’. We requested some salt and pepper chicken which when it arrived turned out to essentially be breaded chicken tenders with neither salt nor pepper. When we queried this we were met with lots of huffing and puffing and were told that we were wrong with an insinuation of ‘how dare we’. Having sampled many Chinese dishes from around the world as someone that travels a lot I can comfortably say this was one of the worst Chinese meals I have ever had. All of which would’ve been tolerable if the service hadn’t been so arrogant, rude and slow. It’s in the middle of China town so perhaps they are just comfortable with the footfall and resent the actual customer service element. It didn’t seem like any of the staff actually wanted to be here. I found the whole experience surprising given the usually high levels of customer service one encounters in the USA.

My family enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Tony Cheng restaurant before attending the First Theater Christmas Carol. Service is outstanding a broad menu of Chinese delights and great Jasmine Tea. Highly recommend to all.

Tony Cheng’s Restaurant is hands-down the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. A longtime favorite, it somehow keeps getting better. Every dish is flawless—bold, balanced, and deeply authentic. The recent remodel elevates the experience even further. This is a DC must.

It looks very janky out front of the building. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor. And it doesn’t look much better on the inside either. I came here alone after an art show on a Friday night for dinner, I was the only person in the restaurant and two guys were leaving as I came in. There was no all you can eat option even though its listed as such. Anyways, the entire time I dined nobody was in the restaurant except me which was fine AT FIRST because it was very quiet and just me, however I was charged as if I ordered for an entire table of people and I had to keep swatting knats and mosquitoes away. Everything was seriously overpriced but was marketed in a way that the portions were bigger or that the food had a Mongolian or Polynesian twist to it. I ordered 1 drink $16, 2 appetizers $25 one was crab and cheese wontons (which had no crab in it) and the other was the beef skewers, 1 main dish was triple delight birds nest and was $31, I thought it was something special or different since I’ve never had triple delight or a birds nest, heck at least from the menu it seemed appealing. My total was $95.95 a complete rip off!!!! Honestly the food wasn’t bad but to upcharge my entire dinner because there are no customers (the waiter went on and on about not having customers and the mandatory included “tip”/service charge) is absolutely wrong. I can clearly see why no one was in the restaurant, I ate here years ago food was great and reasonably priced, it wasn’t anything like this and I will never go back again. Do not come here!

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! We came for the Peking duck and it did not disappoint — so authentic, crispy, and flavorful. Every dish we ordered was packed with fresh ingredients, especially the fried rice which was generously loaded with shrimp. The veggies were crisp and delicious, and unlike a lot of American-style food that’s too salty or too sweet, everything here was perfectly balanced and seasoned just right.
The service was also top-tier. The waiters and waitresses were incredibly kind and attentive — constantly checking in to make sure we were comfortable, but in the warmest, most genuine way. It really felt like they cared.
I would 100% come back again. This is the kind of place where you want to tip well because both the food and service are truly on point. Highly recommend!

The service we had here was phenomenal. We had the soup dumplings, peking duck, and chicken with wine sauce. It was great after a long day of walking. The food and service is worth the higher price and auto tip charge, in our opinion.

Wanted to try somewhere new for take out so ordered the Szechuan Beef, Pork Lo Mein, Moo Shi Pork, and Fried Crab Wonton.
Everything was incredibly bland and flavorless, even the “hot and spicy” Szechuan Beef had barely any taste.
Food wasn’t packaged well as the Szechuan Beef at the bottom of the bag was caving in under the other dishes and had spilled considerably.
Only reason I’m keeping the left overs is so the money spent wasn’t a total waste.
