Tom’s Lobster Shack in Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia is an absolute gem. I had their classic lobster roll, and it was everything you dream of on the coast — massive chunks of fresh, sweet lobster, served chilled on a toasted, buttered roll that was crisp and golden. Each bite was rich and perfectly balanced, letting the lobster’s natural flavor shine.
The roll came with crispy kettle chips and sweet butter chip pickles, adding just the right touch of crunch and sweetness. Simple, authentic, and done to perfection — this is East Coast lobster at its best.
If you’re visiting Peggy’s Cove, make sure you stop here. Tom’s Lobster Shack delivers pure Nova Scotia flavor in every bite.

What a beautiful little spot in Peggy’s Cove. This was our first time visiting and our first time trying a lobster roll, but we feel like this may truly be the best. The gentleman at the serving window was extremely friendly and explained the menu beautifully. We both enjoyed a Classic and Naked roll, while watching the waves roll onto the rocks. Don’t forget to get their chipotle sauce with your chips. Such a gem! Cannot wait to go back

Our lunch choice while in Peggy’s Cove.
Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. The classic lobster rolls we ordered were creamy, loaded with lobster, and the flavour was well-balanced with all of the ingredients combined. Their pickles and chips on the side were great as well, particularly because I’m usually not one for pickles.
We will be back in Peggy’s Cove and plan to go back here once we return!

Absolutely delicious! I’ve tried a number of lobster rolls and their Cajun lobster roll has easily made it in into my top 3 best rolls I’ve ever tasted. The classic roll is also delicious however because I like just a bit more spice, the Cajun roll was perfection! Their smoked meat sandwich is just as tasty as the rest of the menu. Would highly recommend stopping here for a bite to eat if you’re in the area.

The staff were very kind and the food came out fast. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the food quality. The lobster texture was very soft, more similar to canned lobster than fresh lobster and lacking in lobster flavour.
Overall, if you’re craving a lobster roll with the view, then this is an option. Otherwise, you may be better served elsewhere.

Lots of lobster in the rolls; you get so much lobster in each bite. $31/roll which is actually decent as other places in the city charges $34. Comes with chips and two pickles. A must try when you’re at Peggy’s cove.

The best lobster roll in Nova Scotia for sure. We had the naked roll which has garlic butter instead of mayo and it was amazing. Service was really fast considering there was quite a line up when we got there. There is only outdoor seating so plan ahead if the weather is not great. Highly recommend.

Always surprising when a restaurant beside a major tourist attraction is genuinely good. First time having a lobster roll, and the Cajun was super delicious. Not cheap at $35, but worth it. Only a couple minutes after ordering to get it.

My nephew and I did a 55-day road trip across Canada this summer, from Vancouver Island all the way to St. John’s, Newfoundland and back to Vancouver. We ate just about everything you can think of—fancy spots, not-so-fancy spots—and rated all of it: food, hotels, activities, you name it. For food, we looked at service, taste, drinks, and dessert. Tom’s Lobster Shack was the overall winner. Everything was AWESOME!! So glad our friends told us about this place!

Fresh, delicious lobster rolls with generous portions and great flavor. The bread is perfectly toasted, and the lobster is tender and well-seasoned. Friendly service and a casual spot that’s perfect for a quick seafood bite while exploring Halifax. Definitely worth trying if you’re a lobster lover.
