Well I had to go back for the ribs and the pulled barbecue pork sandwich coleslaw on the side. Both versions of their wonderful sauce and love the special ingredient that just gives it that extra zing that I like. Had the crispy fries the large, of course, because well a small batch is just not good enough and three of their special barbecue pork ribs the whole meal. Absolutely fantastic. Didn’t cost that much once again. Tom was at the counter gave me a nice fist bump. I miss Trish was over there doing her paperwork and it was nice to chat with her for a while. This is definitely a family oriented business and they care about their customers they connect and I think that’s what’s got. People coming back for more may not be the busiest place but to me this Chef it is the homeiest place a place to enjoy a meal. Have a conversation and really just connect with people and that is what they do at Tom’s BBQ

Okay folks I got to talk to you more about Tom’s BBQ. I don’t have pictures cuz I ate it so fast but I just had the sliced brisket sandwich on a toasted bun with house coleslaw. They’re wonderful hot barbecue sauce, a side of me, Daniel, mac and cheese and cooled it off with some of their delicious potato salad and let me break this down for you
First of all, the brisket that was on this potato bun, the bun was soft, warm, slightly toasted. It was topped off with just the right amount of coleslaw that had the sweetest yet hint of spiciness to it. That just simply highlighted the barbecue brisket which was not only savory but delicious. Not too salty just the right amount of sweet. Just the right amount of bite the right amount of fat content versus meat and I added that wonderful hot sauce. Not too overpowering, but strict barbecue flavor with just enough cake to let you know that you’re alive right? But if that wasn’t enough folks when I got to the potato salad, potato salad was cool. Tangy Sweet took me to every single backyard barbecue I ever went to in my entire 60 years of being alive and then I swallowed that beautiful and wonderful jalapeno mac and cheese creamy cheesy. I can’t imagine how to get it. That’s smooth and creamy but I know the lady’s back there make it by themselves. They make everything right there on the spot folks. I mean a bit of Chicago right there in your backyard. Please come see the folks at Tom’s BBQ. Bring your family. Bring your friends. This is not hype. This is flavor and I’m excited to know these folks.

Let me preface this by saying, this was my first time at Tom’s BBQ.

There was an older gentleman at the register. Not the friendliest. I came in the 6 o’clock hour. I walked in and began looking at what I know now is the lunch menu. He directed me to the main menu. I smiled and stated how it was my first time. He retorted by advising how long Tom’s been in business and possibly at that location. Not sure if he took offense that I (a non-Arizona native) have never been. I knew then, that perhaps I wouldn’t be back.

My order: 3 meat combo w/ red beans and rice and green beans, peach cobbler, and a canned peach tea. When I ordered the peach cobbler, I was directed to grab a decent size syrofoam container out of the cooler. He advised that I take it home and warm it up. I advised that that was the plan as I had butter pecan ice cream waiting. I noticed that the he added a small container of crumbles. I asked if that was supposed to be the crust. I then asked if the “peach cobbler” was just the peaches. There was a woman who poked her head out and said yes and asked if I wanted her to warm it up. I declined. The gentleman insisted that it was peach cobbler adding that,”it’s not your grannie [or grandmothers], but it’s peach cobbler”. I picked up the container to open it. The gentlemen went to grab it from my hand exclaiming that I had to pay for it first. I advised that I would pay for it even if that means I would have to throw it in the trash. Right then, I knew that today’s visit would indeed be my last.

When it comes to peach cobbler, one shouldn’t cut corners. There are too many wonderful soul food places and bbq places that have pretty good peach cobbler in the U.S. for you not to have a half decent peach cobbler on your menu.

I was so disgusted with the service (let alone the peach cobbler), I didn’t try the food. I gave it away. I wish I would have read the reviews first. I could have saved $39.32.

First and last time.

I was seriously craving fried catfish and was so excited to see it on the menu here—and it did not disappoint! I’ve lived in the area for a while and can’t believe I just found this place. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming—Billie is an absolute sweetheart and truly made the experience special.

I ordered the catfish with mac and cheese and rice and beans—everything was flavorful and comforting, just what I was hoping for. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu!

I ordered the three rib entree, mashed potatoes and green beans.

It knocked my socks clean off. After every bite I was clapping, punching the air and saying ‘thats what I’m talking about’. I ate every bite of that dinner, it almost convinced me to go back to Church, it renewed my faith in humanity.

Excellent serving size, price and flavor. It’s got that east coast kick that you can’t really put a finger on. I did add a little louisiana (iykyk) but honestly you could go without it and still have a happy experience.

Excellent bbq, thank you. I did not go in person, I Doordashed from this location.

Had a brisket sandwich. It was bland as hell. The service is really good, but so far the food isn’t. I’ll go back to try something else maybe

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Aces across the board. My Papa introduced my brother’s and I to Tom’s (Chicago style) BBQ summer of 95 when Tom’s was on Indian School rd. Just off or Grand. I’ve been going back to Tom’s ever since. From Tom’s in phx to Tom’s in Mesa and Tom’s Tom’s in Tempe, the food still tastes delicious with an amazing spicy Chicago style BBQ sauce. I’m watching the carbs and sugars, so I’ve reduced my not restaurant full fat full flavor meals too once a week, so I made it count, and it was delicious and worth the wait. I wanted a chocolate fudge brownie, but I need to drop at least another 10 pounds before that kind of treat. From rib tips to hot links from mac n cheese to potato salad, Tom’s is 1 of the best, No Butt’s about it. The only thing I don’t recommend from Tom’s is their BBQ chicken, but I don’t like BBQ chicken from anywhere. BBQ chicken It’s always too dry. I always keep a bottle of Tom’s BBQ spicy sauce in my fridge for any dish I think of making up, and it works. As you can see, they have a small accurate statue of one Richard lopez AKA Piglet Porkpez on Display. Shout out to Flatface López.
Sadly, there are only 2 Tom’s locations left. One in Tempe and one in chandler. Thanks for reading.

Tried the 3 meat combo while out there for a work trip. Burnt ends were tough. They were wet but not juicy. Pulled pork was moist and full of flavor. Rib tips looked good and had good flavor but was very chewy. Beans were very different than I’m used to, stronger flavor and sweeter, enjoyed them. Potato salad was very good. Fresh and tasty. Was early but place was empty.
