I stop here everytime
I come to Barbourville, best little diner I’ve ever been to. Food has always been hot and fresh and it’s great quality. Def recommend 10/10

Tommy’s Root beer Stand is classic Americana with a sprinkle of southern Kentucky charm! This is an old school drive in with the full works. There are two rows of spots to park in, multiple lit menu boards, and a main kitchen with staff in-between the rows. The menu, food, and atmosphere are all tailored to the drive in experience. You can get anything from a drive in classic, like a burger, all the way to southern specialties like a fried bologna sandwich here.
We arrived right after opening on a Saturday and were greeted right away. We placed an order for two entrees, chili cheese fries, and two drinks and paid $16. That’s a steal compared to fast food in 2025! Our food came out within ten minutes and was delicious, hot, and fresh. Our waitress did a great job of providing napkins, ketchup, and salt in our bags for convenience.

Perfect drive-in spot. Went in the winter and it was still packed but would be a perfect summertime spot! If you’re looking for a big, delicious, messy(in the best way) look no further!

It’s a Root beer stand and on point! The root beer is so good, idk what the secret is but it blows A&W’s out of the water.
I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger and it was a size fit for a 215lb hungry biker and delicious! Crinkle cut fries were fresh with the right amount of crisp.
I had a butter scotch milkshake to follow it up and it was as pleasing as the rest of the meal.
If you’re traveling down 25E and hungry, I Highly recommend this place.

The drive in is great. But dine in is awful. We waited over an hour for a hotdog fries and wee burgers then the order was wrong. Was supposed to got 4 wee burgers got 1. Only ordered them
With cheese onion and bacon. After over an hour the food come with 1 wee burger and everything on it. It was also over $40 for our order with an order of wings for our son. How does 1 hotdog 1 wee burgers fries and wings cost over $40. This was the most awful experience I’ve had at a local restaurant. I have to say the drive in is awesome though.

Absolute joke. The last 3 times I’ve ordered ice cream there’s been a shift change right after. My stuff gets left just sitting up on the counter by the door. The last time I paid and left and didn’t realize all my banana splits were melted. I tried again today and had the same issue. Pulled in and there were only 2 other cars. Called at 4:04 and was told 10-15 minutes. At 4:35 after I had seen my stuff put on the counter 10 minutes prior, shift change, and people going in and out and having conversations that don’t even work there I went to the door. I told them that this happens every time. I’m not paying for melted ice cream again. They opened the top 2 banana splits and I said they were okay. Paid and got to the car. The bottom one was water so my son took it back to the door. The very rude server got nasty and refused to remake it so its now a full banana split in the Tommy’s garbage can. We asked for the owners info and was told no. My family eats here multiple times a month but not anymore. I will no longer patronize a place that I’m spending money for a rude worker and melted ice cream.

If I could I would had gave 0 , ordered food on the cell went to pick it up had 2 orders , and my daughter which is disabled, both patties where prefab frozen from frozen prefab made meat I take it, box was not homemade as I would had thought, I couldn’t even bite into the pattie told the little girl was waiting on cars she said you will need to message the Facebook with your complaint, the normal thing is the refund or redo the food, but the sign said Employees only on their door to the resturant so your stuck waiting hoping someone would help you here , poor service need more workers , and a way to be able to take your food back to the door or window , I’ve ate at two places in Barbourville they told me the same thing, so sorry that wasn’t what the waitress said and let us know if we can do anything next time, would be a great joint if they had fast workers and would keep your food fresh before giving it to ya, we threw it out . I guess small towns take your money and the customers always right doesn’t exist in smaller towns from what I’m seeing . Lesson learned maybe stick with higher chain food if you need a replacement or money back doesn’t happen in smaller towns.

Ordered this last night, no ketchup, no mustard. You can plainly read it on the receipt. After waiting over an hour, I received this. Mustard on burger, bun, and paper, and food was cold. I realize it was the first of the month, the wait wouldn’t have been so bad, if we’d gotten our drinks while waiting, as asked, if our food had been hot and correct. Or if the waitress had kinda kept us informed the 100 times she passed to take others their food, that arrived after us.
But to be apologized to and told “we’re getting it out as fast as we can”? Evidently not, or it wouldn’t have been cold.
No, I didn’t take it back. We’d already left and I had no desire to go back, just to have to wait another hour+.
We spent $30 to feed 3 people and $5 for a tip, in advance by credit card. And we got bad service and bad food.
Don’t pay in advance, you’ll just be stuck with whatever.

Sat there for five minutes waiting to have my order taken. They ignored me and took the order of someone who arrived after me. I haven’t had Tommy’s in 2.5 years and after tonight’s experience I guess I’ll go another few years.
