5 star experience! I only gave a four because they didn’t have a menu option that would have given me allI wanted at a reasonable price. I got the 3 clamp cakes and cup of chowder. They were excellent!! I wanted a few fried class, but the only option – to get them with clam cakes- is to order a $25 platter! Too much food for one and I only wanted a few clams to go with my chowder and clamp cakes. I could have ordered a side of fried clamp, but again, the cost and amount was too much, so I settled on the clam cakes and chowder.

We loved the food here! My daughter was so impressed that she insisted we come back before her summer school at Brown ends. We had lobster rolls, baked scallops, and calamari. Everything was delicious. Can’t wait to return!

Tasty and fresh! Red chowder was extremely salty but full of ingredients. Lobster roll was overflowing with lobster, but I wasn’t thrilled that it was served in a hot dog bun. I will absolutely go back to try more!

Visited this place while on a business trip. The fish was bigger then my hand and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. if I’m ever in town again, I’ll definitely be stopping by this place for shrimp and fish and chips.

From a New Yorker in town for work, this is the quintessential sea side town clam/fish/lobster shack. I had the trio, clam fritters-3/4 lobster roll and a cup of chowder. I had New England. Damn! The roll was a 3/4 and didn’t really need more. Couldn’t imagine the full roll. The soup hot and flavorful with a unique hint of dill. The clam fritters, hot, crispy and clammy. So good and so worth the ride. I will be back when in town.

It’s not the best seafood in New England.
My wife has been in search of a really good stuffed clam or “stuffy,” and Tommy’s is not it. The “Portuguese stuffy” tasted pretty much like stove top stuffing marinated in Frank’s Hot Sauce, then stuffed into a clamshell and baked until hot. On an older menu shown on the Google site, it looks like they may have had a different stuff clam at some point, but it was apparently no longer available.
I got the seafood platter, which is eclipsed by the half dozen other seafood and / or clam platters I’ve had while traveling through New England. The whole clam bellies were very small and more like clam strips. The scallops, while tasty, we’re also very small. I was eating more bread than scallop. The shrimp reminded me of the kind on Chinese buffets where they take a shrimp and smash it as flat and as thin as possible and then coat it with a lot of breading. Speaking of breading, while the fried fish was a very nice size piece of fish, the fish itself had no taste, and thankfully, the mounds of breading pretty much just fell off of it.
The coleslaw was not memorable and neither were the french fries. The pre-packaged Ken’s tarter sauce Is a slap in the face to seafood purest. What did Tommy do before Ken came along??! Shame on you! Make your own tartar sauce!
My advice is if you want really good clams, make the drive to the Ipswich clam box. If you want a really good seafood platter, drive the few extra miles to Woodman’s in Essex. We are still in search of a really good stuffy!

Tommy’s has the BEST clam cakes in RI! Lobster rolls are stuffed and worth every cent! I’ve tried lobster rolls all over the state and Tommy’s is still my favorite.

We visited here for the first time today, and it was great! The service was quick and friendly, and the food came out hot and fast!
The portions were a great value for the money. The flavors and textures of the food we ordered were excellent! And the fish, and really everything, seemed very fresh, and tasted great! We ordered clam cakes, both red and white chowder, and also an order of fish and chips.
The drinks here are sold from a couple of vending machines to the right of the food pickup window, which was fine.
We all enjoyed the experience, and were even debating if we liked it better than Iggy’s (which we love). Tommy’s Clam Shack can definitely hang with Iggy’s, and is now tied as our favorite clam cakes and chowder / fried seafood spot.
We had a great experience, and you probably will too! So, go check out Tommy’s!

We always come to Tommy’s for our seafood fix. The prices are pretty reasonable for the portions received. We ordered the clam cakes, lobster roll, and fish and chips which were all very flavorful. Service was pretty quick and efficient as well for a busy day. Friendly staff and the picnic tables are very clean.
