Great first impression, but I’ll be trying other diners before returning.
I love the diner vibe and friendly atmosphere. The tables are clean, and the condiments are full. Looking over the menu, I decided on the Country Fried Steak, but there were no options for pancakes. Upon asking for three pancakes, the waiter said yeah no problem so I was optimistic. The food came out hot within a few minutes.
The country fried steak was good, crisp and soft, able to be cut with my fork, but a bit too much like ground beef rather than steak. I asked for eggs over-medium, but they came out over-easy. The pancakes and hash browns were delicious. I got a grapefruit juice to wash it down.
When the bill came, I was slammed with $32.10, not including tip. $18.35 for the main plate, $7.50 for pancakes, $3.25 for juice, and $3.00 for tax, oh, and $0 for holding the toast and switching to pancakes. That’s a steep bill for yes, a big breakfast, but for real, it wasn’t a $32 breakfast.
There may be cheaper menu items, but overall, I felt the food and experience were not the greatest. I will try other diners before returning.

Tommy’s is a classic local diner with great service and food that comes out hot, fast, and delicious. Portions are big. The home fries in particular were excellent, with large slices of onion and pepper mixed in with potatoes cooked to perfection. This is a great place to satisfy the itch for a big breakfast, and the extensive menu will have something on it to satisfy everyone in the family.

We just want to go local place for breakfast. It is traditional breakfast menu. My sister in law got Mini breakfast two eggs, hash brown, and toast. She likes the coffee. I ordered French toast combo with two eggs and bacon. I asked for bacon and sausage but got just bacon. It was not big deal, I wanted to try the sausage for the review. The eggs were cooked as ordered over easy. The bacon could be more crispy but I did not ask. The French toasts were okay, it was not bad or good, meaning it was not completely dry. They used regular size toasts. I have many French toast from different places. The service was good.

Love the old local diner feel. Love that they’re open early. Very friendly and efficient service. Enjoyed my breakfast today. I have gone here before several years ago and it’s always been consistent!

The home fries are delicious, they’re sauteed with peppers and onions. French toast was yummy and sausage was good. Coffee was good too and refilled consistently

I had coffee, side home fries and their French toast plate. Butter was fluffed, perfectly seasoned and syrup was good too (packaged)

I love Tommy’s. Classic little diner/café. Been around forever, the prices are about what you will pay at any sit down, but the portions are fantastic. I always leave fed, hydrated, and satisfied, and the wait staff deserves every tip they get.

Tommy’s Cafe never disappoints! The food is consistently excellent, and their home fries are hands-down the best you’ll find anywhere. The coffee is always fresh and flowing, making it the perfect spot to start your day. On top of that, the service is absolutely spectacular—friendly, attentive, and welcoming every time. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home with top-notch food and hospitality, Tommy’s Cafe is the place to be!

Service was fine. The food sucked. Patty melt had no cheese (the melt part) and raw onions not grilled. The ketchup must be left out at night because it turned bad and I didn’t know so I squirted it on the burger making it worse. Yuck! My Sons sandwich sucked too. Dirty restrooms. Nice waitress and great coffee but we won’t be returning.

Food was awful. I had “The mess” the vegetables weren’t cooked at all, there was no flavor. The eggs were rubbery. I had mozzarella sticks as well and they were still cold in the middle, seemed like they needed more time in the microwave. Just go to McDonald’s across the street, it’s cheaper and the food will taste better.
$56 for 2 people.

Recently, 2 of my dearest friends of 35 years and I planned a get together but we needed a common location as we were all scattered around. I googled suggestions for good breakfast locations in Renton and “Tommy’s Cafe” came up.
I had the eggs benedict and they both had the chicken fried steak ……. We were not dissapointed.
The food was delicious,
Service was always aware but not intrusive and the atmosphere was a bit like a vintage diner, not flashy.
We spent 4 perfect hours catching up and never felt pushed out for any reason.
Tommys Cafe has a big menu which includes lots of breakfast and lunch choices. We were there for breakfast but we were there long enough that I did observe some delicious looking burgers float buy us which encourages me for another trip!
