The bar food we had was cooked to perfection. The corned beef in the Reuben sandwich was very tender and the bread/rye perfectly grilled to a just-right crunchiness. The burgers on the Sheboygan rolls were also very tasty and seemed to be made from a good cut of hamburger. We also liked the crispy French fries and deep fried green beans (needed some veggies other than sauerkraut and grilled onions ).
I will say that the old fashions needed some work. Some of us thought that they were too sweet and too weak. We requested that the bartender add some additional bitters to mine. Should have opted for beer.

I had the Lindsey which is a low carb chicken with pepper jack cheese smothered with mushroom and onion, with Franks Hot sauce and chipotle. Yum! I’ve had it several times. I also like the Danny K which is also a low carb burger along the same lines. That one is also very good! It’s made on a grill right in front of the bar. And they keep the grill spotless! Nice folks and good food.

Tommy J’s swelled with small town charm. I enjoyed taking my Mom out for her birthday as we had delicious burgers and homemade chips. She enjoyed playing on the machines while we played dice games at the bar.

Looking back, we had a great time at Tommy J’s. The food was really delicious, the other patrons were great to talk with and the facility was clean. Kelly, the bartender/chef/waitress was quick with the drinks and food. Her attitude and seeming disdain for our existence in the bar was off-putting at first, but kind of endearing by the end of our visit. She’s like a gruff middle-school lunch lady who puts everyone in their place, but has a big heart and wants the best for everyone. We’ll be back for sure!

Wow, Kelly needs a vacation or attitude adjustment. Yikes. Not sure we have ever encountered such a superior level of bitchy in all of our dining experiences. Terrible experience despite the amazing food.

Food was amazing!! We were the only 3 people in the bar for about 15 minutes. We made the comment on how hungry we all were. The bartender says to me “Well Princess what can I get for you” After shift change I needed another drink, I had to wait about 5 minutes because this bartender was busy talking with the cook. Another couple ordered a sandwich and she didn’t want onions on it. When she noticed the onions put on her sandwich the cook took them off with is bare hands and put them back in the container. (I’m glad we got our food first)

I am not a wings fan, but I fell in LOVE with Tommy J’s wings! You gotta ask for the bone-in wings that are NOT on the menu. A best kept secret. Also, the Reubens sandwich is to die for. The new owners put a lot of thought and care into the quality of the food. This is a comfortable, clean Wisconsin tavern in the Holyland. Fun special events and a great place to meet up with friends! OMG I almost forgot about the fried mushrooms – wow!
