We had such a wonderful evening here. We had made a booking about 2 months prior and had a table upstairs overlooking Waikiki. It did rain a little and our server, Valentina, moved us to another table to avoid getting wet. The food was amazing! The serves are really big (we ordered too much) but everything we ordered was super tasty. Our server, Valentina, was great, attentive, informative and friendly. We were celebrating our engagement and she surprised us with a dessert at the end of the evening! There was also a guy playing guitar and singing live most of the evening. I have no hesitation in recommending Tommys as a fabulous restaurant and would definitely recommend it and come again.
But what impressed us the most, and honestly left us amazed, was the service.
Our waitress, Melissa, was beyond incredible. Her attention to detail, the way she made us feel — it was truly outstanding.
This is literally the best service I have ever experienced in my life.
Thank you, Melissa, for making our evening unforgettable. You are amazing at what you do, and this place is lucky to have you!
Highly recommend — not just for the food, but for the exceptional care you’ll receive here.

We went to Tommy Bahama on the last day of our trip. We tried visiting the day before but were told the rooftop was available only with a reservation, so we made one and came back the next day.
I absolutely loved the ambiance. Coming from Seattle, where we don’t really have many rooftop spots, this was a great experience. They also had live music, though unfortunately it was only for a short time and we caught about 15 minutes of it.
Our server was wonderful–very friendly, explained everything well, and even shared a bit about his background (he was also from Seattle!).
As for drinks and food: I ordered the grapefruit cocktail, which was amazing but pretty strong for me–I felt it after just one drink! The food, however, was fairly average. We ordered crab cakes, a margarita pizza from the kids’ menu, and mahi-mahi tacos. I didn’t really find the mahi-mahi to be blackened as expected.
For dessert, we had the pineapple crème brûlée, and that was the highlight. It wasn’t overly sweet and had the perfect balance of flavors–the pineapple blended beautifully.
Overall, it was a nice experience. While the food didn’t stand out much, the ambiance and service really made it worth the visit.
The coconut shrimp appetizer was awesome
However, as a restaurant this place does not deliver on food. I ordered a ribeye medium rare and what I received was a near well done steak. Manager quickly did a redo but the new steak was terrible. The edges were torched to well done and the middle was blue rare. For a $55 steak, the technique of the kitchen is subpar as i can cook a better steak than that in my own kitchen.
I wish I took a picture of this terible steak, but the manager was eager to please and I didnt get a chance to take a photo with him asking how great everything is. (Also they temperature checked it to 110 degrees F, which isnt medium rare. It should’ve been 130 degrees f)
I was also expecting more flavor than just sweet steak (pineapple miso glaze) but it was not good. I recommend you do not order the steak here.
Otherwise, everyone else in the party enjoyed their food (pasta & fillet).
