Our experience at Tommy Bahama in Newport Beach was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between relaxed coastal elegance and polished dining, making it ideal for both a casual lunch and a special night out.

We started with the Caesar salad, which was fresh, crisp, and perfectly balanced—not overdressed, with just the right amount of parmesan and crunch. A great way to begin the meal.

The hamburger truly deserves a special mention—WOW is the right word. Juicy, flavorful, cooked to perfection, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. It’s one of those burgers you keep thinking about after you leave.

I ordered the shrimp with almond rice, and it was absolutely spectacular. The shrimp were tender and beautifully seasoned, and the almond rice added a delicate, slightly nutty flavor that elevated the entire dish. It felt refined yet comforting at the same time—easily a standout entrée.

For dessert, we shared the piña colada cake, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Moist, rich, and bursting with tropical flavor, without being overly sweet. Truly indulgent and memorable.

Overall, Tommy Bahama Newport Beach delivers excellent food, a warm and inviting ambiance, and consistently high-quality dishes. Every plate felt thoughtfully prepared, and the experience exceeded expectations. We loved it and will absolutely be coming back.

Jenny our waitress was friendly and knew the menu ; she was awesome! Everything we order was Devine. The winter menu ; order the scallops ; lobster pasta dish & I had the crusted macadamian halibut, hubby ordered from the regular menu the Kona coffee ribeye steak dish and it was amazing- the dessert was the Pina colada big enough to be shared with 3-4 ppl. Our drinks were spot on – old fashioned , I had a slightly dirty martini and mom had cosmopolitan

Unfortunately didn’t take pics of all the dishes but Tommy never misses. The lump crab cake appetizers were delicious as were the other starters, main dishes and coconut pineapple cake for dessert. We had a drink at the bar and then were planning on moving to the dining room but our waitress was so attentive and sweet, even though they were very busy, that we decided to dine at high top table in the bar instead. If you like seafood and a laidback elevated California-Hawaii vibe then Tommy Bahamas is always a good choice – don’t forget to ask for bread and butter- it’s not automatically given like years ago but if you ask they’ll bring it out hot and fresh

Had a wonderful dinner this evening at Tommy Bahamas. Our friends Roc and Julie joined us as it was their birthdays. The ambiance is always pleasant and the staff amazing not to mention the delicious food and crafted drinks. We started with Drinks and appetizers. Jeff was our main server along with Brandon both amazing individuals and stellar servers. We had the coconut shrimp as did our friends, so two orders. My wife had the mojito and Julie the martini. Okay two rounds lol. Roc and I both had iced tea. For entrees my wife had the Mahi Mahi Tacos, Julie had the soup and biscuits and Roc and I both ordered the macadamia crusted halibut. Oh the food was delicious. We so enjoyed visiting with Pilar as well. She is an amazing person and we just love her. We had an amazing time and all of the staff members are so kind, helpful and true professionals.

Had a wonderful lunch today at Tommy Bahama in Newport Beach. We sat in the bar near the window and it was so refreshing. Ian was our amazing and attentive server and truly a professional, kind and caring person. We also talked with Pilar the GM and she is an amazing person, we just love her positive and vibrant spirit. We started with coconut shrimp and my wife had a mojito and I had their famous mango ice tea. What a terrific ambiance and the TV screens above the bar were awesome as well. For our entrees we ordered the crusted halibut and my wife had the asparagus with rice while I opted for the coleslaw and sautéed spinach. The dishes were wonderful and so tasty. Pilar sent us home with a slice of Keylime pie which was so kind as she has a heart of gold. This is one of our favorite places and it’s not only the food and but the amazing people and ambiance. Highly recommended!

Had an amazing early dinner at Tommy Bahama in Newport Beach today. We had reservations for 4:15 pm but managed to get a nice high top table near the bar. Sabrina, McKenna, Jenny and Jeffery helped us as servers and were all wonderful, kind and friendly. Sabrina was our main server. McKenna was such a light bright and cheerful person as well. All the staff here are fantastic. We started with coconut shrimp and drinks. My wife had a Mojito and I had the mango unsweetened ice tea. Oh and the bread and butter is out of this world. Sabrina took our main entree order with my wife ordering the Mahi Mahi fish tacos and a Caesar salad and I had the macadamia crusted halibut with asparagus and coleslaw. Both entrees were phenomenal. So so good and tasty. I had a cup of coffee at the end of the meal while listening to some fantastic tunes. We were so impressed with the food we took two of the same meals home to go.
What a terrific outing and dining experience. Pilar the manager also stopped by and we shared a nice conversation. Pilar is definitely an amazing person and manager and her staff and the patrons love her.
Great place, food and people.

We had reservations at Tommy Bahama in Newport Beach for an early dinner. The ambiance was positive with great music and lots of happy people enjoying the vibe. The hostesses were both welcoming and quite professional. We were seated at a nice table and our server Jeffery was stellar. A true professional who is kind, courteous and knowledgeable. We started with the famous coconut shrimp as an appetizer. My wife had the mojito and I had the mango ice tea and later my favorite friend, Don Julio 1942 on a large rock. We had an opportunity to visit with the amazing Pilar who just brings so much light and joy to the restaurant. Pilar is a true professional and an example of why this restaurant is so successful. We also had a visit from Brandon another true professional who is dedicated to quality customer care and service. We also had the please of saying hello to Megan, Natalie, and Kati. There is a lot of love there. Jeffery took our entrees order and stopped by regularly to ensure satisfaction. My wife ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos and I had the filet mignon entree.

A Taste of Paradise at Tommy Bahama Newport Beach
Nestled beside the Newport Beach City Library and the bustling Fashion Island Mall, Tommy Bahama Restaurant offers a delightful escape into a “balmy ambiance” that truly lives up to its name. My recent midday lunch experience left me thoroughly impressed and eager to return.
From the moment I stepped in, the calm and relatively quiet charm of the eatery, conveniently connected to their clothing store, was palpable. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the typical mall-side dining, offering a serene atmosphere perfect for a relaxing meal.
My choice for the main course, the Macadamia Nut Crusted Pacific Halibut, was an absolute triumph. Served with Hawaiian sea salt, grilled asparagus, and almond rice, and elegantly finished with a wasabi soy beurre blanc, every element on the plate sang. The halibut itself was perfectly cooked – flaky and moist, with the macadamia nut crust adding a delightful crunch and richness. The almond rice was a wonderful accompaniment, and the wasabi soy beurre blanc provided a subtle, intriguing kick that elevated the dish without overpowering the delicate fish. Paired with a refreshing Heineken 0.0, it was a truly satisfying culinary experience.
Beyond the delicious food, the entire visit was seamless. Parking was free and convenient, and the facilities were impeccably clean. The wait staff was not only cordial but also remarkably prompt, ensuring my lunch arrived warm and without a long wait.
Overall, my first visit to Tommy Bahama Restaurant in Newport Beach was a resounding success. The combination of delicious food, a tranquil setting, and excellent service makes it a standout. I’ll definitely be returning to savor more of their menu and soak in the pleasant atmosphere.

This place does have a great atmosphere. Food quality here though is ok nothing special. If you don’t have high standards and are not a foodie person this place is good. Ordered a Pina colada and it worst one I ever had. See picture. The Wagyu burger was not too shabby. A little on the pink side but not end of the world. The mashed potatoes were ok. I know labor costs are high so when mashing potatoes they just leave the potato skin inside to save on labor cost . I had to eat and then manually take out each potato skin out of my mouth as I was eating. Waitress was very nice and friendly. You will need to wait though to get serviced.

One of my SIL booked us reservations here. I had never heard of this clothing company or restaurant. We went here for a late lunch/early dinner. It was a beautiful restaurant. Service was great, especially with our large table. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. I didn’t try this but five others did & they all loved it. It was presented on top of a little bit of applesauce I think. Presentation was beautiful! There were a lot of dishes dished out at this restaurant so I only took pictures of a couple because our group was just so big. There was a grilled Chicken & Mango salad that looked delicious & a Char-grilled Filet Mignon Salad. I guess the Filet Mignon salad used to come with potatoes on the side & my SIL was really looking forward to these but the dish didn’t have them. I wonder if this is a new change. My boyfriend ordered the All American Burger. He liked it but said it was pretty oniony & messy with the aioli sauce on it. The fries were good, but needed more salt. The restaurant wasn’t very vegetarian friendly. I ended up just getting a side of grilled asparagus which I saw on some of their reviews online. It was fantastic! Did not disappoint! I loved the grilled lemon this came with to put over the asparagus as well. Presentation on all the dishes were really pretty. Staff was great & accommodating. We had later reservations & asked to be moved up & they were able to get us in at an earlier time. I just wish they had more vegetarian friendly options on the menu.

We had an incredible experience at Tommy Bahama on Saturday night. Brandon, our server, was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and went above and beyond to accommodate my celiac diet. He provided me with a wide range of options and even modified dishes that weren’t labeled gluten-free to ensure they were safe for me to eat and to give me a wider range of options (absolutely incredible). His exceptional service and attention to detail truly stood out and made our visit memorable. It’s rare to find such exceptional service, and we’re already planning to return.

Came here to celebrate Valentine’s Day. They were very busy so we got seated 15 minutes after our reservation time. Service was quick, and our food arrived quickly.

We weren’t given any complimentary bread, so our meal started off with our appetizers: crab cakes and lobster spring rolls. The crab cakes were large and delicious! They would have been better slightly warmer. The island slaw was yummy, and had some wonton pieces that added a nice crunch. I didn’t try the lobster spring rolls, but my bf said they were tasty, but didn’t have any crab inside (it’s mostly pork).

For the entree, I got the Vday special: Lemon Pacific Sole. The fish was soft and tender, but I didn’t particularly like the risotto and banana curry butter sauce. The crispy sweet potato on top was yummy. I tried my bf’s Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut, and it was also really tender and crispy on the outside.
