I am a new resident in Mount Sterling. Several people in town recommend Tomatoes & Flames. I am very happy to report that the restaurants reputation is well deserved. There is something of a wait because they make the pizzas fresh to order, but we were given a bowl of popcorn to snack on during the wait. Both my kids said the pizza was excellent and my daughter thought it was cool that she could see her pizza baking in the brick oven. The chili was very good and the beer selection was impressive for such a small restaurant. 2 of the 8 inch pizzas, 2 soft drinks, a bowl of Chili and a beer came in around $40. The decor is full of pop culture gems and a huge brass chandelier.

Overall a very enjoyable experience, we will definitely be visiting again soon. My wife has an allergy to one of the preservatives in many mass produced pizza sauces in the chain restaurants and I was very happy to hear that Tomatoes & Flames makes their own sauce in house. So if you are sensitive to preservatives, like my wife, this is definitely a safe place eat. Staff was very friendly.

If you are in Mount Sterling’s historic downtown district I would highly recommend this place for a very enjoyable lunch or dinner.

Took my family to try the local pizza place. It has a very cute and welcoming vibe! Until you actually order food here.

My husband and I came in one day and ordered a coffee during the week, the girls behind the counter acted like they’ve never served anyone a coffee before. My husband had a few questions that they answered hesitantly, while the owner sat at a table on his phone. It felt awkward.

The next week we decided the descriptions of their pizza were too good to pass up. Wood-fired pizza with fresh mozzarella and cupping pepperonis? Sign me up! The ambiance is very nice. Good music playing, artwork on the walls and real plants on each table.

We ordered and tipped at the counter and our “server” (he had a floured apron on) gave us our drinks and then proceeded to sit down with his own food and eat. Workers gotta eat too, I get it. We were served our pizzas and no one offered a plate, silverware or even a napkin. No napkins on the table, either. Drink machine was behind the register so it’s definitely not a self-serve place. It made me wonder if they tip share, because if not we tipped someone who literally sat down after we ordered, leaving the other two workers to finish serving.

The pizza was embarrassing. The crust was limp, not cooked all the way, had absolutely no wood-fired taste, the cheese was very obviously cheap mozzarella as well as the pepperoni. Frozen pizza tastes better than this. We honestly felt lied to from the descriptions. Very disappointed and will not be back.

I have been a regular here for a few years, usually getting a Margherita pizza or tomato soup. I went to have my usual the other day and I noticed a little laminated sheet on the table advertising homemade ice cream. I asked my server about the double vanilla, but they were unfortunately out, and he recommended the Blue Monday ice cream made with candy from a local business. I mean it when I say this, that was the most delicious ice cream I have had in my life. I strongly recommend everyone try it!

Really enjoy this place. Service is really good. The pizza is great if you like wood fired pizzas. Doesn’t always have some of the qualities I expect from wood fired pizzas like char and and signs of a higher heat cook. Still worth stopping in and grabbing some lunch or dinner with the family.

The best Pizza in Mount Sterling! The flavor was perfect and was cooked in a fire brick oven right in the restaurant. We had the Kentucky Hot Brown pizza and the taste was spot on! We also had the cheese sticks with a couple Ale-8’s. The price for our dinner was very reasonable. The atmosphere was very cool and inviting and we even got to watch a Bob Ross painting video while enjoying dinner. They had so many options to choose from that we will definitely be back!

Went here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Love the location. Parking was really easy especially considering the central location. Perfect decor for a pizza place. A pretty good place for a casual date. We got the supremo pizza to share. Crust was awesome although a little soggy in the middle. Also the pizza was warm not hot. Still pizza was still pretty good and the 12 inch was the right amount for two to share. The Italian soda was great and really liked that they had a large assortment of flavors to choose from. Service was prompt and friendly. I definitely will try this place again.

We came on a Saturday, for brunch. We ordered Hot Chicken & Waffles, Biscuits & Gravy, A Hot Brown, and a side of bacon, cheese grits, and a side salad.

Now, I’m not the biggest fan of grits, in fact, I’ve never had grits I have enjoyed, until now. The texture and taste were perfect, and my kids even ate them up!

The waffles were the right balance of crispy and soft, and the syrup, and sauces were fresh and favorable.

I have 4 kids, and the service was very kid friendly, they were very thoughtful and foresaw needs before we even asked.

This is our first time here, and it won’t be our last. The location is quaint, the music is calm and soothing, and on this rainy day it was perfect.

So, support your local establishments and come on in! Looking forward to trying the Brick Oven Pizza!

Perfect. The pizza was so fresh and delicious. I had never had a Italian creme soda but I can’t imagine having a root bear float if it’s not from there. The tea paired well with the soup and pizza. As a dessert I tried their pb & j calzone and it’s the perfect afternoon snack. 20/10.

I’ve always loved tomato and flames up until the past month. I tried multiple times to come thru the door in my wheelchair and could not make it, their entrance is really weird. My wheelchair did move their rug they had in the front door and instead of offering me any assistance a gentleman come out and seemed very annoyed that I moved their rug runner thing. He adjusted it and went back in the store and never said a word to me. Completely not handicapped friendly and will not be back.
