We enjoyed the tacos and enchiladas. The salsa was good, not great. We were missing the side of Guacamole with our order. But most of all, the queso was more like cheese soup.

Tomatillo Taco Joint is a quick serve spot perfect for grabbing a bite to eat. They have a menu full of tacos, burritos, nachos and quesadillas. The nachos were definitely our favorite. They also have smoothies, the mango coolada was delicious. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean.

The food was ok the problem is the portion size vs pricing $16.95 for a steak wrap that was filled with peppers and onion barely any steak then charged 1$ for sour cream and the wrap was the size of a Taco Bell beef burrito! Thats highway robbery!

This place was perfect for our family, including kiddos of all ages! They were the sweetest and super welcoming. They even made us an order of churros on the house. All of the food was delicious and there were great options.

I had the nachos, and they were so good! The portions were great too. I got my two-year-old daughter the cheese quesadilla, and she ate all of it. We also shared the churros, which were delicious.

We were looking for a quick bite before the museum opened and decided on Tomatillo, which was across the street from The Shops at Yale. We were welcomed by a wonderful person behind the counter, who greets you with a smile and also prepares your food. She did a great job with the preparation of the Chicken Quesadillas. All 3 of us had the same thing and were all equally satisfied with the taste and quality of the food. With the tip, we spent $50 but would have spent the same pretty much anywhere these days. We will definitely go back there again when in the area.

I usually came here a lot as someone who lived in the area here and was here every other week. But recently I came back after being gone for 5 months and the place has gone down hill. They upped the prices which is fine with inflation. But the attitude with the workers is unprofessional I tried to order my usual and got a bad attitude because he didn’t want to listen to me at all and im very non confrontational so I left it there. But then he forgot the 2 things that I asked for after charging me for it. So I had to come back and ask for the items.
TLDR: worker made my food wrong after giving me and attitude and I didn’t correct them. Then forgot my spicy beef chili on the side. Food tastes fine I guess wasted my money 0/5 stars…

Best burrito shop in New Haven! Huge portions and always fresh. Great staff as well. And best price too. I went to 2 other shops here that charged more for smaller burritos that didn’t even taste as good.

Tomatillo is one of those places I’ve been driving past for years on trips to New Haven and always wondered what it was like! I needed something quick but not too filling to eat before an event, so my fiancé and I stopped here. It wasn’t anything too crazy, but it served what we were looking for in the moment. The salsas were pretty yummy! The rice and steak were just okay, I think they could’ve used more flavor.
