Stopped here on the recommendation from some relatives after a terrible Mexican experience elsewhere. Seated very promptly. Service was very good. Menu well varied enough for everybody. A huge selection of margaritas that we enjoyed. There was some partially live musical accompaniment by a man playing a keyboard that was entertaining playing both Puerto Rican music as well as classic top 40 hits. It was not too loud or distracting a fun touch. Very nice vibe. The food was very good. we enjoyed all the things we got. I got Carnitas tacos. My son got Birria tacos and my wife got an enchilada that she enjoyed very much some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in Puerto Rico.

The service was good; however, the taco sampler did not meet expectations. The meats were quite dry and lacked flavor. Given the many dining options in the area, I would likely consider trying other establishments if ever visiting again.

Went on a Wednesday night around 7 and there was no wait. They have a menu of margaritas or you can make your own. I got a traditional one and my wife got a Paloma. Both were great. To eat, I got the Swiss enchiladas with chicken and my wife got the chicken tacos with guacamole. Both said they were made with local ingredients and they tasted amazing. Also got a side of guacamole which was made in house and the kids ate that up. It was pretty expensive but it is also located right off of the beach and the food was well worth it.

Great vibes! Our server Mia was extremely helpful in figuring out a fully vegetarian order. She was super gracious to swap out the regular ingredients with extra veggies and condiments! Would highly recommend this spot if you’re in the mood for a feel good Mexican meal!

This is a wonderful family-run business—I had the pleasure of meeting the mother and daughter behind it. The food is delicious, fresh, and made with amazing homemade ingredients. We tried the taco sampler, and every single taco was a hit. And of course, we had to try the fried cheesecake—because where else can you order fried cheesecake? It was out of this world! We had an amazing experience at Tomate. The service was outstanding from start to finish, and the food was truly authentic Mexican—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The drinks were exceptional, especially the margaritas, which are some of the best we’ve had. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. Gina and Mia, the owners, went above and beyond and treated us like family, which made the experience even more special. We highly recommend Tomate and can’t wait to return.
