The ambiance is great—I loved the low lighting and the music. Our host was incredibly kind and took the time to answer all of our questions.
As for the food:
The Chili: They are famous for it, and it definitely lived up to the hype!
Tacos: Very tasty and priced appropriately.
Speed: Everything came out in a very reasonable amount of time, and the quality was top-notch.
It’s a perfect spot for a family dinner with a cool atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
Negatives out of the way first. The food left something to be desired. We started with the bean and cheese nachos, which were great. For our main course, no, I didn’t try the world famous chili they’re known for, but I did get the sour cream chicken enchiladas and my friend got the standard burger on the menu. He said his burger checked all the boxes. While my enchiladas were great, the side of beans and rice were disappointing. The “beans” were more of a black paste, and the rice seemed to be from a box and not the classic red rice you’d expect with this kind of dish.
That being said, this establishment more than makes up for it in atmosphere. Situated on the historic grapevine of the DFW area, this restaurant is well decorated and extremely inviting. We sat down at a cozy table with live music playing, which brought some magic to the experience.
While the dish I got could use improvement, it tasted home cooked and didn’t break the bank. There were so many good options on the menu, and pair that with the great atmosphere, it makes me want to come back here again.
Come for some easy food, and stay for a great time.
To the owner Kathleen, you’re doing something special!
The second visit I had a “Bowl of Red” and it’s genuinely some of the best chili I’ve had. Stick with the chili, that’s what they’re known for!
fish sandwich- bun fell apart (ended up having to eat it with a fork) , fish was almost nonexistent, thin and soggy.
Frito pie, was small with only a few Fritos.
Burger was good, but bun crumbled and fell apart.
Salad was good- fresh lettuce and good portion size.
Bowl of chili was very small for being a bowl. Closer to cup size. Someone with a small appetite, added the 4oz to make it a super bowl, and still left hungry. Definitely not a meal portion.
I have a food allergy and asked for a manager as soon as we got there. Asked 2 more times, we were there over a hour, still never seen a manager.
Waitress-was good, friendly and kept our drinks full.

I don’t mind high prices and small portions if the food and service is worth it. Unfortunately that was not our experience. We spent over $100 on lunch for 4 people(2 of which were children) just to go get food elsewhere to get full. But never seeing the MOD after requesting multiple times sadly was the last straw. Unfortunately we will not return nor recommend
