We love Japan and Japanese food. Our last trip to Japan last year has always kept us looking for the best food in the area. Came across this place in my feed and decided we needed to try them out. Ordered online the day before, picked up our food and enjoyed the food in our car on the streets of downtown Portland.

WOW! The food was super fresh, delicious, and instantly brought back memories of our trip to Japan. We had the Curry Sando, Naka Sando and the karrage…. the crunchiness of the Curry Sando was out of this world and the fluffiness of the bread on the Naka Sando brought me back to the Kombini Egg Salad sandos we had in Japan..

The woman who greeted me was super sweet and cordial, and we both exchanged Arigato Gozaimasu and bows before I left, so cool I would visit them again and try other Sandos. If you are missing Japan and want a super cool food experience, give them try. You won’t be disappointed. 😉

Decadant and delicious. I’ve eaten a lot of katsu sandos in my life, but before Tokyo Sando all of them have come from the fridges of Japanese 7-11’s and FamilyMarts. The katsu sando we tried here was absolutely incredible and blew my expectations out of the water. The portion is also huge, and was big enough for my fiance and I to share. The food truck park this spot is located in is also super cute and has plenty of seating (and a brewery!)

Best Japanese sandos in Portland! The sandos are huge, but the balance of flavors was on point. Get in line quickly and expect a bit of a wait, but there’s a bunch of other food trucks to check out in the hall. Service was friendly. And prices were reasonable. I’d definitely come back!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND
The miso katsu sando was heavenly. Honestly, better than some of the Sandos I had when I was in Japan.
There’s one lady running it and she makes each order fresh. It’s a bit of a wait due to this but it’s worth it.
The lady is so sweet and you can tell she puts her love into every sando she gives.
I’m lucky I got to try her food! It was delicious. Make sure you eat it right away when it’s warm so the bread doesn’t get soggy!

I think my favorite sandwich in the world is the Tokyo Gyoza Scotch Egg Sando special. It’s so delicious even if it is very messy to eat. Thank you, Tokyo Sando, for making such a fabulous treat!

We finally tried these sandwiches— chicken miso katsu and Tokyo curry pan special, both were amazing! I personally liked the katsu sando better.

We arrived very shortly after opening on Saturday and the line was roughly 15 people long, but I imagine that’s how it always is, and it moved exceptionally fast. The woman at the register was very sweet and friendly. Our order was ready within 12 minutes despite the lunch rush.

My one warning is that if you get a sando with a hardboiled egg, make the egg your first bite! I made the mistake of taking my first bite from the side and my egg went flying into my lap, ricocheting off my pants and landing on the ground under our table where several pigeons fought over it. We happened to finish our food just when other sando enjoyers were getting visibly irritated by the frenzy, so we bounced, but 2-3 of those pigeons had a blessed day.

Amazing sandos! So good! We didn’t know it was so popular until we got there and thankfully beat the line But it would be worth the wait. Next time we are in Portland we will stop by again.

Tokyo Sando is worth the hype! Been trying to go for a long time and loved my first visit today.

I had the Miso Katso Sando with Chicken and my mom tried the Miso Tofu Sando. They were both so flavorful and delicious. The chicken was crispy outside and not dry at all. Sauce is perfection.

I really wanted to try the Tokyo Gyoza Scotch Egg Sando but they were sold out already by the time I came (around 2pm). They were also sold out of Pork.

Very excited to come back to try their other options.

The food truck area is really nice, with lots of other vendors and seating area. Street Parking was also pretty easy.

I’ve been a regular at Tokyo Sando for years now. I try to swing by at least once a week. The food is consistently good. The staff is super friendly. Best Sandos in all of Portland. Every me in a while they’ll also write me notes in Kanji. One of my top three places to dine in Portland.

Soooo good. The Miso Katsu was so delicious. Staff were so sweet and accommodating. While waiting I walked around and grabbed a few other items at other vendors but Tokyo Sando stood out the most by far.

Craving this sandwich badly while writing this review. Can’t wait to have it again!
